As a Staff Attorney, you will provide essential legal support across a diverse portfolio of business activities, helping ensure that commercial agreements and organizational initiatives align with legal requirements and strategic objectives. Working closely with senior legal leaders and cross-functional teams, you will draft, review, and negotiate contracts covering services, technology, licensing, events, and entertainment-related matters. You will translate complex legal concepts into practical guidance, enabling business stakeholders to make informed decisions while managing contractual risks effectively. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of efficient legal processes, improve contract management systems, and support innovative projects within a dynamic, creative environment. You will balance independent legal analysis with collaborative problem-solving while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality. The position is well suited to an early-career attorney seeking to develop transactional expertise and make a meaningful contribution to the music and entertainment industry.
Draft, review, revise, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, service agreements, programming arrangements, event agreements, licensing contracts, technology agreements, and contracts supporting new business initiatives. Provide practical legal advice to internal business teams on contractual interpretation, obligations, potential risks, and available options, communicating complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders. Identify legal issues and assess their potential business impact, escalating complex or high-risk matters to senior members of the Legal Affairs team when appropriate. Collaborate with legal colleagues and business stakeholders to streamline contract workflows, improve turnaround times, and strengthen consistency throughout the contracting process. Maintain and update contract playbooks, templates, and standardized documentation to support efficient contract drafting, negotiation, execution, and administration. Ensure executed agreements and related legal records are accurately organized, maintained, and accessible to relevant stakeholders. Partner with internal departments and affiliated organizations to develop, maintain, and improve contract templates that reflect business needs and applicable legal requirements. Assist in developing, implementing, and updating organizational policies and procedures to promote compliance, operational efficiency, and responsible resource management. Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to organizational activities and provide guidance on their potential implications for contracts and business operations. Contribute to a collaborative legal environment by exercising sound professional judgment, approaching challenges proactively, and identifying practical, business-oriented solutions. Requirements: Hold a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. Be licensed to practice law in your state of residence or be eligible to obtain the required license. Have 2–3 years of professional experience practicing transactional law at an established law firm or within an in-house corporate legal, business affairs, or comparable legal department. Demonstrate strong experience in commercial contract drafting, review, interpretation, and negotiation, with excellent legal writing skills and the ability to bring agreements to successful and efficient conclusions. Have experience advising business stakeholders on contractual obligations, legal risks, and practical solutions, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both legal and non-legal audiences. Possess sound business judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate alternative approaches and balance legal considerations with organizational objectives. Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and a forward-thinking mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities to improve processes and adopt technology that supports more efficient contract management. Be comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail, professionalism, and high standards of accuracy. Work effectively both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating accountability, proactive communication, and a strong commitment to team objectives. Exhibit exceptional integrity, discretion, and sound judgment when handling sensitive legal matters and confidential information. Preferred qualifications: Experience advising on music, entertainment, media, or related creative-industry business matters. Familiarity with licensing agreements, event contracts, technology transactions, and agreements involving creative professionals or entertainment-related activities. Experience using contract management platforms, legal technology, and standardized workflows to improve efficiency and consistency. Benefits: Competitive annual salary: Starting salary range of $95,600–$106,500, with the final offer determined by experience, qualifications, job requirements, and applicable geographic market factors. Comprehensive healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision insurance for eligible employees. Retirement savings: 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions. Generous paid time off: Access to paid leave to support work-life balance and personal well-being. Additional employee benefits: Access to a broader benefits package for eligible employees working at least 20 hours per week. Remote work arrangement: The position is listed as remote, offering flexibility in the work environment. Professional development: Opportunities to strengthen transactional legal expertise, expand commercial contracting experience, and collaborate with experienced legal professionals. Cross-functional exposure: The opportunity to work across legal, business, technology, licensing, and entertainment-related activities.
