Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Engineer, Software based in the United States. Join a senior engineering team building the enterprise software that powers complex operations across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and finance. In this hands-on role, you will design and deliver scalable applications, cloud services, and integrations that connect critical business systems. You will work primarily with C#/.NET and React, leveraging distributed architectures, event-driven messaging, and AI-powered capabilities to solve real-world challenges. From system design and implementation to deployment and production support, you will take ownership of solutions throughout their lifecycle. You will collaborate with experienced engineers and business stakeholders, leading projects when needed while contributing to shared codebases and engineering standards. This fast-paced environment offers the opportunity to apply modern software practices, make architectural decisions, and deliver measurable business impact.
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will develop reliable enterprise applications and integrations, improve system resilience, and help establish strong engineering practices across teams. Your responsibilities will include: Design, build, and maintain enterprise applications, REST APIs, and services using C#/.NET and React, with Python where appropriate. Architect and implement distributed, event-driven systems using messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, Azure Service Bus, or MQTT, alongside frameworks such as NServiceBus or MassTransit. Build and maintain integrations between enterprise platforms, including product lifecycle management (PLM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), identity, and engineering systems. Implement resilient workflows using architectural patterns such as Saga/process managers, outbox, CQRS, and idempotent consumers. Integrate AI capabilities, including large language model (LLM)-powered features, agents, and intelligent automation, into enterprise applications. Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality, security, and thorough review practices. Deploy and operate services in Azure and/or AWS, applying sound practices for cloud security, networking, identity, reliability, and cost management. Build, test, and release software through existing CI/CD and developer platforms, including GitLab, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Artifactory, and SonarQube. Instrument services for observability and investigate issues across asynchronous workflows and distributed production systems. Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, code reviews, and the continuous improvement of engineering standards. Lead projects when needed while working collaboratively with fellow senior engineers on shared codebases. Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges, shape requirements, and deliver effective, measurable solutions. Requirements: The ideal candidate combines deep software engineering expertise with sound architectural judgment, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to deliver in a fast-moving environment. Required qualifications include: At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, typically supported by a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Strong expertise in C# and .NET, including .NET 6+, ASP.NET Core, RESTful APIs, background services, and Entity Framework or comparable data-access technologies. Professional experience developing frontend applications with React, preferably using TypeScript. Hands-on experience with messaging systems and event-driven architectures, including delivery guarantees, message ordering, retries, and dead-letter handling. Strong knowledge of integration platform as a service (iPaaS) tools and experience designing and implementing enterprise integrations. Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices, modular monoliths, eventual consistency, and resilience patterns. Practical cloud experience with Azure or AWS, including security, networking, identity and access management, compute, storage, and managed services. Familiarity with cloud development and deployment practices at an associate-certification level, such as AZ-204, AZ-104, AWS Solutions Architect – Associate, or AWS Developer – Associate. Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and application troubleshooting. Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL, including data modeling and query optimization. Strong practical experience with AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar solutions, along with sound judgment about their safe and effective use. A disciplined approach to unit, integration, and end-to-end testing. The ability to learn new domains and technologies quickly, make informed decisions with incomplete information, and deliver value early. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A strong commitment to ownership, continuous improvement, and being a dependable and respectful team member. Preferred qualifications: Experience implementing the Saga pattern through orchestration or choreography for long-running business processes. Familiarity with NServiceBus and the Particular Service Platform, including ServicePulse, ServiceInsight, and ServiceControl, or equivalent tools for monitoring and troubleshooting message-driven systems. Proficiency in Python for services, scripting, data processing, or AI/ML workloads. An active Azure or AWS certification at associate level or higher. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Container Apps, AKS/EKS, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Bicep. Experience with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Application Insights, Grafana, or Datadog. Experience integrating enterprise identity platforms and protocols, including Microsoft Entra ID, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, single sign-on (SSO), and role-based access control (RBAC). Experience integrating PLM or ERP platforms, such as Teamcenter, Arena, or Costpoint. Experience developing software in defense, Department of Defense (DoD), or government contracting environments, including Azure Government or AWS GovCloud. Familiarity with secure software development practices and frameworks such as NIST SP 800-218 (Secure Software Development Framework). Experience working as a peer within a small, senior engineering team, balancing project leadership with hands-on collaboration. Benefits: Competitive compensation based on skills, experience, certifications, and work location. Bonus opportunities for eligible regular full-time employees. Equity as part of the regular full-time employee offer package. Employee benefits for eligible regular full-time employees. Temporary employee benefits package, where applicable, beginning after 60 days of employment. Equal employment opportunity and affirmative action commitments.
