Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Product Manager, Agent Primitives based in Canada. We are seeking an experienced Staff Product Manager to shape the next generation of platform capabilities for AI agents and intelligent applications. In this role, you will define the strategy and roadmap for agent-specific primitives, helping developers build AI-powered systems that are more reliable, scalable, intuitive, and efficient. You will work closely with engineering, design, customer-facing teams, and the developer community to transform emerging needs into innovative product capabilities. Combining deep technical understanding with strong product judgment, you will navigate complex challenges involving distributed systems, orchestration, reliability, latency, and cost. You will drive discovery, validate product opportunities, and deliver solutions that improve the developer experience across open-source and cloud environments. This remote opportunity is ideal for a strategic, hands-on product leader who thrives in fast-moving environments and wants to influence how AI applications are built and operated.

Own the product strategy, vision, and roadmap for agent primitives, identifying high-impact opportunities to evolve platform capabilities for AI-driven workloads. Develop a deep understanding of the challenges faced by AI agent builders and identify ways to make agent development faster, more intuitive, reliable, and powerful. Define product hypotheses and translate ambiguous market signals, customer feedback, and emerging technical trends into clear product strategies. Explore new abstractions and platform capabilities for agent execution, orchestration, state management, and durability, accounting for varying latency, cost, and reliability requirements. Lead product discovery through customer conversations, field insights, and engagement with the open-source developer community. Translate validated opportunities into actionable requirements for APIs, SDKs, integrations, and platform features. Partner closely with engineering and design teams to communicate user needs, guide technical trade-offs, and support effective product decisions. Drive product delivery from initial discovery and definition through launch, adoption measurement, and iterative improvement. Establish and communicate product positioning, feature messaging, launch narratives, and developer-facing guidance for technical audiences. Enable sales and marketing teams with the product knowledge and messaging needed to communicate value effectively and support customer adoption. Balance the needs of open-source developers, cloud customers, and enterprise users operating mission-critical production workloads. Monitor product adoption, gather feedback, and use measurable outcomes to refine the roadmap and maximize customer value. Collaborate across organizational boundaries, maintaining a strong sense of ownership and moving quickly from ideas to execution. Requirements: At least 8 years of product management experience, ideally with a strong track record in technical or developer-focused products. Experience working with platform products, infrastructure, developer tools, or similarly complex technical solutions. Background in a startup, high-growth company, or another fast-paced environment characterized by ambiguity, rapid iteration, and evolving priorities. Strong technical understanding of distributed systems, workflow and orchestration systems, event-driven architectures, APIs, SDKs, or comparable platform abstractions. Ability to evaluate API semantics, system failure modes, state management, reliability, scalability, and infrastructure cost trade-offs. Strong commitment to developer experience across APIs, SDKs, documentation, examples, onboarding journeys, and production workflows. Demonstrated success delivering technical products in partnership with engineering teams, measuring adoption, learning from users, and iterating based on evidence. Ability to translate emerging workload patterns, including AI agents and tool calling, into platform requirements, product primitives, APIs, SDKs, and integrations. Experience balancing the needs of open-source communities, cloud adoption, and enterprise production environments. Excellent product storytelling and communication skills, particularly when explaining technical strategies, design trade-offs, launches, and developer-facing concepts. Strong product judgment, operational ownership, analytical thinking, and the ability to make effective decisions in uncertain situations. A proactive, resilient, and growth-oriented mindset, with a willingness to challenge assumptions, seek feedback, and help teams succeed. Customer-first approach, with the ability to understand user workflows deeply and prioritize meaningful customer problems. Nice to have: Experience with workflow engines, durable execution, job queues, data pipelines, scheduling systems, or event-driven platforms. Nice to have: Experience developing products across multiple programming languages, SDKs, or platform surfaces. Nice to have: Experience with AI agent platforms, tool-calling systems, or durable execution for AI workloads. Nice to have: Hands-on engineering experience or substantial practical experience building with infrastructure products. Benefits: Remote working opportunity based in Canada. Full-time employment. Opportunity to shape the evolution of platform technology for AI agents and intelligent applications. Equity compensation is offered; specific details for Canada were not provided in the original listing. Opportunity to work with a growing customer base and contribute to technically challenging, high-impact product initiatives. Collaborative environment involving engineering, design, developer communities, and customer-facing teams. Opportunity to influence developer experience across open-source, cloud, and enterprise use cases. A workplace committed to equal opportunity, diversity, inclusion, and reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. Canadian salary range, healthcare coverage, paid time off, and other location-specific benefits were not specified in the original job description.
