Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Product Manager, Residential Charging & Home Energy Management based in the United States. We are looking for a strategic, technically minded product leader to shape the future of residential electric vehicle charging and connected home energy management. In this senior role, you will own the product strategy, roadmap, business case, and launch execution for a portfolio of residential AC charging solutions. You will help evolve home charging beyond standalone hardware into an intelligent, integrated energy ecosystem encompassing load management, smart electrical panels, utility programs, and bidirectional power capabilities. Working across hardware, firmware, cloud software, operations, and go-to-market teams, you will drive complex products from concept through certification and commercial launch. You will also build strategic partnerships with utilities, automotive manufacturers, and energy technology providers to expand product capabilities and market reach. This is an opportunity to influence a rapidly evolving industry while delivering practical, reliable solutions for drivers, homeowners, and energy partners.
Own product strategy and roadmap: Define and manage the strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle for residential AC charging hardware, balancing customer needs, market opportunities, technical feasibility, and business objectives. Manage product economics: Develop and maintain business cases, making informed decisions about pricing, demand forecasts, production volumes, costs, and product investment priorities. Lead end-to-end product development: Guide products from concept and development through early access, certification, factory readiness, and commercial launch. Own go/no-go decisions and establish clear release and shipment criteria. Advance home energy management: Define the strategy for integrated home energy solutions, including dynamic load management, avoiding electrical panel upgrades, vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities, and smart-home interoperability. Evaluate build, buy, and partner opportunities: Assess emerging technologies, external solutions, and strategic partnerships to accelerate innovation and strengthen the residential product portfolio. Build strategic partnerships: Manage product relationships with intelligent power management providers, utilities, automotive original equipment manufacturers, and other ecosystem partners. Represent the product in utility pilots and managed-charging initiatives. Drive post-launch quality and improvement: Partner with Quality, Customer Experience, and Engineering teams to monitor field performance, gather feedback from installers and drivers, prioritize corrective actions, and inform future roadmap decisions. Coordinate cross-functional priorities: Align hardware and firmware engineering, cloud and mobile application teams, operations, and commercial stakeholders. Manage dependencies across residential, commercial, fleet, and DC charging portfolios while prioritizing shared engineering resources. Lead go-to-market execution: Work with residential sales, channel partners, and Product Marketing to define positioning, packaging, launch plans, and sales enablement materials. Ensure regulatory and standards readiness: Coordinate product certification and compliance requirements, including applicable safety, interoperability, and energy-management standards. Leverage AI and emerging technologies: Use AI-powered tools and new technologies to accelerate product definition, market and data analysis, decision-making, and delivery execution. Requirements: 8–12 years of product management or product line management experience, particularly in hardware products, with ownership of business cases, product strategy, and full lifecycle management for connected electrical or energy solutions. Proven experience taking integrated hardware, firmware, and software products from concept through development and into volume production. Demonstrated expertise in residential EV charging, solar energy, battery storage, inverters, smart electrical panels, load management, or closely related home energy markets. Strong commercial and strategic judgment, including experience making pricing, cost, certification, production, and launch decisions in complex, cross-functional environments. Familiarity with home energy integration and relevant technical standards and protocols, such as UL 3141, UL 9741, IEEE 2030.5, OCPP, and ISO 15118. A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related discipline. An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred. Excellent cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to align technical and commercial teams, influence stakeholders without direct authority, and drive decisions across a matrixed organization. Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to translate customer needs, market opportunities, and technical constraints into actionable product strategies. Clear communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to explain complex product and energy concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences. Preferred qualifications: Experience with vehicle-to-home or bidirectional charging, microgrid interconnection devices, backup power systems, demand response, virtual power plants, or other utility programs. Experience with smart-home ecosystems and interoperability standards is an advantage. Experience launching products across both North American and European markets is preferred. Benefits: Remote work arrangement across North America. Opportunity to shape the development of residential EV charging and next-generation home energy management solutions. A senior product leadership role with broad ownership across product strategy, business performance, engineering coordination, partnerships, and commercial launch. Exposure to emerging technologies and strategic collaborations across the electric mobility and energy ecosystems. The opportunity to work with multidisciplinary teams on products that support the transition to electric mobility and more intelligent home energy use. An inclusive work environment that values collaboration, openness, customer focus, courage, and continuous improvement. Reasonable accommodations throughout the application and interview process for candidates who require them.
