Headquartered in College Park, Maryland, IonQ has operations in California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Washington, Italy, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Our quantum computing services are available through all major cloud providers, while we also meet the needs of networking and sensing customers across land, sea, air, and space. IonQ is making quantum platforms more accessible and impactful than ever before. Location: This role is based onsite in Geneva, Switzerland. Travel: Job ID: 1917 The Role: We are looking for a Staff QA Engineer to join our team building post-quantum cryptography (PQC) hardware acceleration for HSM and network-appliance products. You will own product-level quality assurance: the system test plans, automation and compliance test execution that stand between an engineering release and a product customers can trust. In a security product, QA is not an afterthought; it is part of the evidence. Responsibilities : You will define and execute system-level test plans for FPGA-based cryptographic products: functional, performance, stress, stability and negative testing across the full stack, from hardware through firmware and drivers to cryptographic APIs. You will build and maintain the automated QA infrastructure (regression suites, hardware-in-the-loop test benches, CI integration, results dashboards), execute standards-based compliance test campaigns (NIST ACVP/CAVP test vectors, FIPS 140-3 evidence runs, CNSA 2.0 checklists and standard FPGA compliance tests) together with our verification and security engineers, run interoperability testing against protocol stacks and customer-representative configurations, own defect tracking and triage, and define the release-qualification criteria for every product release. Own system-level QA of cryptographic hardware products: test plans, automation, execution and release qualification Execute standards and compliance test campaigns (ACVP/CAVP vectors, FIPS 140-3 evidence, CNSA 2.0 and FPGA compliance tests) as part of the certification effort Requirements: We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience) and at least five years in quality assurance or system test of embedded, hardware or networking products. You have built test automation in Python or similar, integrated it into CI, and worked hands-on with lab equipment and hardware-in-the-loop setups. Exposure to security or compliance testing (FIPS, Common Criteria, or telecom/industrial certification regimes) is a strong plus, as is experience testing cryptographic or networking functionality. You are rigorous, methodical and precise in documentation, because in this product your test reports become certification evidence. Fluency in English is required; French or German is an advantage. Experienced system-test/QA engineer for embedded or hardware products with strong automation skills Compliance or security test experience and meticulous documentation habits are strong advantages Preferred Qualifications: You take professional pride in being the last line of defence before a release, you like breaking things methodically so customers never do, and you enjoy the extra weight QA carries when the product is a security device. Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. Our benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans, matching 401(k), unlimited PTO and paid holidays, parental/adoption leave, legal insurance, and a home technology stipend. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided when a candidate receives an offer of employment.
