This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Strategic Account Executive, Mining based in Australia. This senior sales role will drive strategic growth across the mining sector in Australia and the Pacific, with a focus on major operators, equipment OEMs, and technology partners. You will own complex enterprise accounts and build trusted relationships with executive, operational, IT/OT, and procurement stakeholders. The role combines consultative selling, strategic account management, and deep customer engagement in remote and off-grid environments. You will position edge computing and AI solutions as mission-critical technologies that address real operational challenges across mining sites. Working cross-functionally with product, engineering, solutions, and ecosystem partners, you will shape tailored customer outcomes and long-term partnerships. The position offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to expand enterprise technology adoption across a strategically important and rapidly evolving market.
Identify, qualify, and close complex enterprise opportunities with major mining operators across Australia and the Pacific. Develop and maintain trusted relationships with mining executives, operations leaders, IT/OT stakeholders, procurement teams, and other key decision-makers. Own end-to-end sales cycles involving multiple sites, regions, stakeholders, and extended procurement processes, including Australia and Papua New Guinea. Navigate complex buying groups within remote, operationally intensive mine-site environments. Deliver value-based presentations that clearly demonstrate the operational and commercial impact of edge computing and AI solutions. Own territory pipeline strategy, forecasting, CRM discipline, and overall account planning. Lead complex negotiations and close high-value, multi-year strategic agreements. Collaborate with product, engineering, and solutions teams to develop tailored, site-ready solutions. Build relationships across the mining ecosystem, including EPCMs, engineering firms, mining technology and automation providers, equipment OEMs, integrators, and connectivity partners. Lead or support RFI, RFQ, and RFP processes within mining procurement frameworks. Represent the organization at relevant mining industry events, forums, and customer engagements across Australia and the Pacific. Maintain strong post-sale relationships to support adoption, expansion, retention, and long-term account value. Monitor mining industry priorities, budgets, procurement cycles, market developments, and competitive activity. Maintain a regular FIFO travel rhythm to remote sites across the Pilbara, Goldfields, and Papua New Guinea. Operate with a high level of ownership, autonomy, and accountability in a fast-moving, high-growth environment. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Technology, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus. 10+ years of strategic enterprise sales experience, particularly with mining, resources, industrial, or heavy-asset accounts in Australia and/or Papua New Guinea. Proven experience managing strategic or named accounts within major mining operators. Demonstrated success closing large, complex, multi-site enterprise deals with long sales cycles. Experience selling technology solutions such as AI, edge computing, infrastructure, connectivity, or data platforms into mining or industrial environments. Strong understanding of mining operations, procurement processes, stakeholder structures, and commercial decision-making. Excellent executive-level communication, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Consistent track record of achieving or exceeding sales quotas. Strong pipeline management, forecasting, CRM, and account planning discipline. Self-directed, adaptable, highly organized, and comfortable working with significant autonomy. Growth-oriented mindset, intellectual curiosity, strong business acumen, and a practical, results-focused approach to problem solving. Collaborative approach with the ability to prioritize team and business outcomes. Existing relationships and credibility with major Australian and PNG mining companies, including practical “dirty boots” industry experience, are highly valued. Familiarity with EPCMs, engineering firms, mining procurement frameworks, OEMs, integrators, and RFP/RFQ processes is advantageous. Knowledge of MEDDPICC, Challenger, or Command of the Message sales methodologies is a plus. Startup or high-growth technology experience is beneficial. Knowledge of edge computing, cloud platforms, AI/ML, private wireless or satellite connectivity, and their applications in mining is advantageous. Ability to work effectively across different ownership structures, from large ASX-listed enterprises to smaller state- or landowner-linked organizations. Benefits: Fully remote position based in Australia. Strategic territory covering Australia and the Pacific. Opportunity to work with major mining operators and complex enterprise accounts. High degree of ownership and autonomy within a fast-moving, high-growth environment. Exposure to emerging technologies including AI, edge computing, infrastructure, and connectivity. Opportunity to influence mission-critical technology adoption across remote and challenging operational environments. Cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, solutions, and industry ecosystem partners. Regular engagement with senior executives and strategic decision-makers across the mining sector. Opportunity to participate in major mining industry events and forums. Travel to leading mining regions and remote operational sites across Australia and Papua New Guinea.
