Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Strategic Sourcing/Purchasing Manager based in the United States. In this role, you will drive purchasing savings by negotiating competitive pricing and securing additional manufacturer support for commercial kitchen equipment and supplies. You will work closely with sales teams, purchasing professionals, and manufacturer representatives to optimize pricing for active sales opportunities. Your expertise in strategic buying, supplier negotiations, and project-specific discounts will directly contribute to business profitability and customer value. You will identify opportunities for special pricing, specification credits, and manufacturer incentives beyond standard dealer discounts. Operating in a fully remote environment, you will manage multiple requests, build strong supplier relationships, and coordinate closely with internal stakeholders. This position offers the opportunity to influence purchasing performance through measurable savings, efficient processes, and effective negotiation strategies. You will join a collaborative, customer-focused environment that values initiative, accountability, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
Review assigned sales opportunities with the Deal Desk Manager and sales representatives to identify opportunities for additional manufacturer discounts, special project pricing, and specification credits. Gather and validate equipment specifications, quantities, project information, purchasing timelines, and supporting documentation to prepare complete and persuasive pricing requests. Proactively contact manufacturers and their representatives by phone and email to negotiate competitive project-specific pricing and maximize available purchasing incentives. Identify applicable manufacturer programs, manage project registrations, and submit specification-credit requests in accordance with eligibility requirements and established deadlines. Negotiate pricing within approved company guidelines and escalate complex negotiations, exceptions, or approval requirements to the Deal Desk Manager. Develop and maintain productive relationships with manufacturers and supplier representatives through professional communication, accurate information, and consistent follow-through. Track open pricing requests, manage follow-up schedules, and ensure timely responses to meet customer quotation deadlines. Maintain accurate records of negotiated pricing, approved discounts, credit amounts, eligibility conditions, expiration dates, and supporting correspondence. Communicate manufacturer approvals, pricing conditions, and credit requirements to sales and purchasing teams to ensure accurate quotations and purchase orders. Collaborate with purchasing and accounting to verify that negotiated discounts are applied correctly and approved credits are submitted, tracked, and received. Monitor and report on realized savings, outstanding requests, pricing improvements, and turnaround times to measure performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Stay informed about manufacturer pricing programs and recommend enhancements to sourcing strategies, pricing-request workflows, and credit-tracking processes. Requirements: At least 2 years of buying, purchasing, or project-pricing experience with a commercial foodservice equipment and supplies dealer or distributor. Demonstrated hands-on experience negotiating manufacturer discounts, requesting special project pricing, and securing specification credits, with specific examples of successful negotiations and measurable outcomes. Working knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment categories, major manufacturers, and manufacturer representative networks. Practical understanding of specification-credit eligibility, project registration procedures, manufacturer approval processes, and required supporting documentation. Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the confidence to engage manufacturers and their representatives professionally by phone and email. Ability to clearly present project specifications, competitive circumstances, purchasing requirements, and timelines to secure favorable pricing. Understanding of dealer costs, gross margins, and the impact of discounts and credits on profitability. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, along with familiarity with purchasing, quoting, ERP, or CRM systems. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple pricing opportunities, documentation requirements, and follow-up deadlines simultaneously. A proactive, results-oriented approach with strong ownership, accountability, and consistent follow-through. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining responsive communication and effective collaboration with sales, purchasing, accounting, and management teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and support decisions with measurable results. Benefits: Competitive base salary: $60,000–$75,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. Performance-based bonus: Opportunity to earn up to 50% of base salary through a tiered incentive structure tied to verified company savings. Fully remote position: Work from anywhere within the United States, with flexibility to organize your schedule. Flexible working arrangements: Greater autonomy and freedom in managing your day-to-day responsibilities. Healthcare coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance. Employee purchasing discounts: Access to special pricing on commercial kitchen equipment and supplies. Professional development: Expert training and company-funded continuing education opportunities. Growth opportunities: The chance to strengthen strategic sourcing expertise, develop supplier relationships, and make a measurable impact on purchasing performance. Collaborative environment: Work with sales, purchasing, and supplier partners in a customer-focused setting that values initiative and continuous improvement. Equal opportunity employment: Consideration for qualified candidates without discrimination based on legally protected characteristics.
