Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Svelte Developer based in Switzerland. As a Senior Svelte Developer, you will take ownership of building a high-performance web frontend from the ground up for a growing B2B technology platform. You will shape the frontend architecture, establish development standards, and create a scalable design system using SvelteKit, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. Your work will focus on delivering exceptional user experiences through fast page loads, accessibility, responsive design, and measurable improvements in Core Web Vitals. You will define rendering strategies, strengthen testing practices, and introduce modern development workflows that support quality and efficiency. Working in a fully remote, international environment, you will collaborate with product and backend teams to turn business requirements into reliable, maintainable solutions. This is an opportunity to influence core technical decisions, embrace AI-assisted development, and help establish the foundations of a new digital platform.

Frontend Architecture and Development: Design, architect, and build a modern web frontend from scratch using SvelteKit, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and long-term performance. Rendering Strategy: Define and implement the appropriate rendering approach across Server-Side Rendering (SSR), Static Site Generation (SSG), Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR), and edge rendering where suitable. Performance Optimization: Establish and maintain measurable performance targets, including Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) below 2.0 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint (INP) below 200 milliseconds, and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) below 0.1, using real-user metrics wherever possible. Design System Development: Build and maintain a reusable component library and scalable design system in Svelte, including consistent design tokens, component patterns, and styling conventions. User Interface Implementation: Translate product requirements, wireframes, and design specifications into clean, composable, accessible, and responsive frontend components. SEO and Web Standards: Implement and maintain essential search engine optimization practices, including semantic HTML, metadata, structured data, sitemaps, and canonical URLs. Testing and Quality Assurance: Establish frontend testing standards using Vitest for unit testing and Playwright for end-to-end testing, ensuring reliability throughout the development lifecycle. Developer Experience and Tooling: Configure and maintain frontend development workflows, including linting, formatting, type checking, pre-commit hooks, and continuous integration quality gates. Code Quality and Technical Leadership: Lead code reviews, promote best practices, document architectural decisions through Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and contribute to technical planning and architecture discussions. Backend Integration: Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs and contribute to API contract design to ensure efficient communication between frontend and backend systems. Deployment and Infrastructure: Support CI/CD pipelines and application deployments on AWS, collaborating with relevant engineering teams to maintain reliable delivery processes. Performance Monitoring: Use tools such as Lighthouse, WebPageTest, and real-user monitoring solutions to identify bottlenecks, assess performance, and continuously improve the user experience. AI-Assisted Development: Implement and refine AI-powered coding workflows to accelerate development while maintaining strong standards for code quality, testing, security, and maintainability. Requirements Professional Svelte Experience: Strong hands-on experience developing and maintaining production applications with Svelte and SvelteKit, including the ability to make sound architectural decisions. JavaScript and TypeScript: Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript, with a strong understanding of contemporary frontend development patterns. Tailwind CSS: Deep practical experience with Tailwind CSS, including design token strategies, reusable styling patterns, and techniques to prevent excessive or inconsistent utility-class usage. Frontend Fundamentals: Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, semantic markup, and web accessibility principles. Performance Engineering: A proven track record of building high-performance web applications and optimizing Core Web Vitals using real-user data and tools such as Lighthouse and WebPageTest. Greenfield Architecture: Experience designing and implementing scalable frontend architectures from scratch, with the ability to establish technical foundations that support future growth. Component Libraries and Design Systems: Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining reusable component libraries, consistent UI patterns, and scalable design system implementations. Svelte State Management: Strong understanding of Svelte state management approaches, including stores, context, and runes. Testing Expertise: Practical experience with Vitest for unit testing and Playwright for end-to-end testing, alongside a commitment to automated quality assurance. Version Control and Delivery: Proficiency with Git and GitHub workflows, including pull requests, code reviews, branching strategies, and CI/CD integration. AI Development Tools: Hands-on experience implementing agentic development workflows using tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent AI-assisted coding platforms, with the ability to review and validate generated code. Technical Communication: Strong problem-solving, documentation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain architectural decisions, evaluate technical trade-offs, and work effectively with distributed teams. Autonomy and Ownership: A proactive, detail-oriented approach and the ability to take responsibility for technical decisions, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality solutions in a fast-moving startup environment. Nice to have: Experience with edge runtimes, such as Cloudflare Workers or AWS Lambda@Edge. Hands-on experience deploying and operating applications on AWS services, including CloudFront, S3, ECS, or equivalent infrastructure. Experience designing, maintaining, and improving CI/CD pipelines. Experience implementing design systems end to end, from design tokens to production-ready components. Experience integrating AI-powered features into production frontend applications. Previous experience migrating applications from React or Next.js to Svelte or SvelteKit. Benefits Fully Remote Work: Work remotely from Europe. Flexible Time Off: Take up to 28 days of annual leave, in addition to public holidays. International Team: Collaborate with colleagues from around the world in a globally distributed working environment. Startup Environment: Join a new technology venture launched in 2025, with the opportunity to help build and scale a B2B platform from the ground up. Technical Ownership: Influence frontend architecture, development standards, performance strategy, and design system decisions from the earliest stages. Modern Technology Stack: Work with SvelteKit, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, AWS, and AI-assisted development tools. Professional Growth: Expand your expertise by solving greenfield architecture challenges and establishing engineering practices for a growing platform. High-Impact Work: Make visible contributions to product quality, web performance, developer experience, and the platform's long-term technical direction.
