Croatian applicants can apply for Switzerland’s 2027–2028 Government Excellence Research Fellowship, PhD Scholarship or Arts Scholarship. The Croatia call opened 1 September 2026 and closes 30 November 2026 at 11:59 PM Swiss local time.
Complete scholarship details
The research fellowship supports 6–12 months of full-time research in Switzerland and the PhD scholarship starts with 12 months and can be renewed twice up to 36 months, subject to progress. Arts scholarships support a first master’s in art or music for 12 months, with possible extension up to 21 months depending on the programme. Research and PhD applicants need an eligible master’s degree, a research plan and a supporting Swiss academic supervisor. Arts applicants need an eligible bachelor’s degree and admission or application evidence from a Swiss art or music institution. The programme starts 1 September 2027.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants apply under Croatia. Research/PhD applicants must hold the required master’s or equivalent by 31 July 2027 (30 June 2027 for ETH Zurich), have been born after 31 December 1991, and secure a Swiss academic supervisor. Arts applicants must complete a bachelor’s or equivalent by 31 July 2027, have been born after 31 December 1991, have no master’s degree at scholarship start, and have admission or application evidence from a Swiss art/music institution. Additional programme and residence conditions apply.
Tips for this scholarship
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Research and PhD applicants should secure an eligible Swiss academic supervisor before applying.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
Verification notes
Primary-source verification used SERI's 2027–2028 scholarship overview and Europe country schedule. Croatia is listed with opening 01 Sep 2026, deadline 30 Nov 2026 at 11:59 PM Swiss local time, and Research Fellowship, PhD and Arts scholarship types. 30 Nov 2026 is CET (UTC+1), normalized here to 22:59 UTC. SERI states CHF 2,450/month plus a CHF 600 rental-deposit contribution and a Swiss Half-Fare Travelcard. Because Croatia is EU, scholars bear their own compulsory health-insurance premiums and travel costs; tuition/semester fees are not generally covered.
