Overview
Citizens of the Dominican Republic can apply for Swiss Government Excellence Research Fellowship or PhD Scholarship funding for the 2027–2028 academic year.
Complete scholarship details
The official 2027–2028 Swiss country schedule lists Research Fellowship and PhD routes for the Dominican Republic. Research fellowships support 6–12 months of full-time research in Switzerland, while PhD scholarships begin with 12 months of support and may be renewed twice for up to 36 months subject to academic progress. Both routes provide CHF 2,450 per month. Non-EU/EFTA scholarship holders can receive Swiss health-insurance coverage, a one-time CHF 600 rental-deposit contribution, a Half-Fare Travelcard and an eligible return-flight allowance; tuition and semester fees are generally not covered.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants for the Research Fellowship or PhD route must hold the required master’s degree or equivalent by 31 July 2027 (30 June 2027 for ETH Zurich), have been born after 31 December 1991, submit a detailed research plan, and secure a letter of support from an eligible academic supervisor in Switzerland. Additional residence, prior-award and programme rules published by SERI apply.
Tips for this scholarship
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
