Egypt is included in the 2027–2028 Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships with Research Fellowship and PhD routes for eligible postgraduate researchers.

For Egypt, the official 2027–2028 country schedule lists Research Fellowship and PhD scholarship types. Research Fellowships run for 6–12 months and PhD scholarships begin with 12 months and may be renewed twice for up to 36 months subject to progress. Current support is CHF 2,450 per month for one person. For non-EU/EFTA scholarship holders, the programme also covers compulsory health-insurance premiums and provides a return-flight allowance; additional benefits include a CHF 600 rental-deposit grant and a Half-Fare Travelcard. Tuition and semester fees are generally not covered.
Eligibility requirements
Egyptian applicants must meet the relevant Research Fellowship or PhD criteria. Current research routes require a qualifying master’s degree or equivalent by the stated 2027 cut-off, a detailed research plan and a support letter from an academic supervisor in Switzerland. PhD applicants must meet the programme’s additional doctoral-admission conditions where applicable.

On 10 November Switzerland is on CET (UTC+1), so 23:59 local normalizes to 22:59 UTC. The Swiss Embassy in Egypt also confirms Egyptian eligibility. Postdoctoral funding was not presented as a 2027–2028 Egypt route.
