The current 2027–2028 programme provides CHF 2,450 per month for the Research Fellowship and PhD scholarship routes. Research Fellowships support 6–12 months of full-time research; PhD scholarships are designed for doctoral research in Switzerland. Published additional support for qualifying non-EU/EFTA scholars includes health and accident insurance premiums and a CHF 600 housing allowance. Applicants should check the current official programme guidance for all route-specific conditions.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants for the Research Fellowship or PhD routes generally need a master's degree or equivalent completed by 31 July 2027 (30 June 2027 for ETH Zurich), must have been born after 31 December 1991, need a detailed research project, and must secure a support letter from an eligible academic supervisor in Switzerland. Applicants must also satisfy the Malawi country conditions and route-specific requirements.
