Overview
Swiss federal research and doctoral scholarships for eligible applicants from Maldives, with Research Fellowship and PhD routes available for the 2027–2028 cycle.
Complete scholarship details
The official Asia country schedule opens Maldives applications on 20 August 2026 and lists Research Fellowship and PhD routes. Research and doctoral awards provide CHF 2,450 per month. Additional support for eligible non-EU/EFTA scholars includes compulsory health-insurance premiums, a CHF 600 rental-deposit contribution, a Half-Fare public-transport card and a return-flight allowance; tuition or semester fees are generally not covered.
Eligibility requirements
Research applicants need the required master's-level qualification, a defined research project and support from an academic supervisor at an eligible Swiss host institution. PhD applicants likewise need a master's or equivalent qualification and Swiss academic supervision; current age, prior-Switzerland residence and other exclusions in the official 2027–2028 guidance apply.
Tips for this scholarship
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
Verification notes
