Overview
The 2027–2028 Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship call for applicants from Moldova offers Research Fellowship and PhD scholarship routes in Switzerland.
Complete scholarship details
The official Europe country schedule lists Moldova with an opening date of 1 September 2026 and a submission deadline of 27 November 2026 at 11:59 PM Swiss local time. Research fellowships run for 6–12 months and PhD scholarships begin with 12 months and may be renewed twice for up to 36 months, subject to the programme rules. Current support is CHF 2,450 per month. Additional benefits for eligible non-EU/EFTA scholars include compulsory health-insurance premium coverage and a return-flight allowance; the programme also provides a one-time CHF 600 rental-deposit grant and a Half-Fare Travelcard. Tuition and semester fees are generally not covered.
Eligibility requirements
For the Moldova Research Fellowship or PhD routes, applicants must meet the current FCS criteria. These include a master’s degree or equivalent completed by 31 July 2027 (30 June 2027 for ETH Zurich), birth after 31 December 1991, a detailed research plan, and a support letter from an eligible academic supervisor in Switzerland. Additional doctoral-admission conditions apply where required.
Tips for this scholarship
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
Verification notes
Verified from SERI’s current 2027–2028 guidance and official Europe country schedule. Moldova opens 1 September 2026 and closes 27 November 2026 at 11:59 PM Swiss local time, with Research Fellowship and PhD routes. On 27 November Switzerland is on CET (UTC+1), so the published local cutoff normalizes to 22:59 UTC. The Moldova FDFA scholarship page also confirms the Swiss Government Excellence route for Moldovan researchers.
