Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are open for the 2027–2028 cycle to eligible applicants from 183 countries, primarily supporting early-career researchers who have completed a Master's degree.

Research fellowships and PhD scholarships support full-time research in Switzerland. Research, PhD and art scholarship holders receive CHF 2,450 per month. Additional benefits can include compulsory health-insurance premiums for non-EU/EFTA scholars, a CHF 600 rental-deposit grant, a Half-Fare Travelcard and a return-flight allowance for non-EU/EFTA scholars. The scholarship does not generally cover tuition or semester fees, conference costs or fieldwork costs.
Eligibility requirements
Eligibility and deadlines depend on scholarship type and country of origin. Research fellowship applicants generally need a Master's degree by the specified 2027 cutoff, must be born after 31 December 1991, and need a support letter from a Swiss academic supervisor. Applicants must check the official country/territory list before applying.
