Overview
ETH Zurich has published the 2027 Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship application process for foreign researchers, including research fellowships and doctoral scholarships.
Complete scholarship details
ETH states that the application process runs from 20 August to 30 November 2026. Applicants can submit through Go-ESKAS only after finding an ETH professor who agrees to supervise them and issues an invitation letter. ETH notes that postdoctoral scholarship applications are no longer possible through this route.
Eligibility requirements
Foreign researchers must follow the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship rules for their nationality and scholarship type. For an ETH-hosted application, a willing ETH professor and invitation letter are required before submission.
Tips for this scholarship
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
Verification notes
Verified on 28 August 2026 against the authoritative programme, university, employer, ATS or institutional source. Only facts visible on the cited source were retained; unsupported salary, visa, fee and deadline-time details were not inferred.
Job and Scholarship is the discovery and verification layer. Confirm eligibility, dates, salary/funding and application instructions on the original source before submitting anything.
