SERI's official 1 September 2026 A–Z country list shows the Laos call open from 1 September 2026 and closing 24 November 2026 at 11:59 PM Swiss local time. The available Laos routes are Research Fellowship and PhD. Current support is CHF 2,450 per month for one person. For non-EU/EFTA scholarship holders, current additional benefits include compulsory Swiss health-insurance premium coverage, a one-time CHF 600 rental-deposit grant, a Half-Fare Travelcard and an eligible return-flight allowance. Tuition and semester fees are not generally covered.
Eligibility requirements
For the current Research Fellowship and PhD routes, applicants need a qualifying master's degree or equivalent completed by 31 July 2027 (30 June 2027 for ETH Zurich), must have been born after 31 December 1991, must prepare a detailed research plan, and must secure a letter of support from an eligible academic supervisor in Switzerland. Applicants must also meet all current country-specific and host-institution requirements.
