Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Tax Advisory Manager based in Florida, Texas, or Tennessee, United States. Step beyond traditional tax compliance and help business owners make smarter financial decisions through proactive, personalized tax planning. As a Tax Advisory Manager, you will use your technical expertise to identify tax-saving opportunities, develop tailored strategies, and deliver measurable value to clients. You will manage your own client portfolio, lead advisory consultations, and guide business owners through complex tax decisions with clarity and confidence. Working closely with firm leadership, you will address sophisticated planning challenges while maintaining high standards of technical accuracy and client service. You will be responsible for delivering 10–15 customized tax plans each month, followed by ongoing quarterly planning and strategic recommendations. This fully remote opportunity offers significant autonomy, meaningful client relationships, and a culture that values initiative, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

As a Tax Advisory Manager, you will lead tax planning engagements from initial discovery through implementation guidance and ongoing advisory support. You will combine strong technical knowledge with relationship management to help clients optimize their tax positions and make informed business decisions. Your responsibilities will include: Lead initial tax planning consultations and independently identify opportunities to reduce clients' tax liabilities. Develop and deliver 10–15 customized tax plans per month for business-owner clients. Advise clients on entity structures, tax elections, compensation strategies, deductions, and long-term tax optimization. Translate complex tax concepts, potential risks, and strategic trade-offs into clear, practical recommendations. Manage an assigned portfolio of tax planning clients and serve as their primary tax advisor. Conduct quarterly planning meetings to review financial results, identify emerging tax-saving opportunities, and adjust strategies as clients' businesses evolve. Build trusted client relationships through proactive communication, responsiveness, and consistent service. Help clients understand their tax strategies and take practical steps toward implementing recommended actions. Review complex individual and business tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, and 1120, when necessary to support planning recommendations. Ensure tax strategies are technically sound, compliant with applicable requirements, and thoroughly documented. Maintain accurate workpapers and planning documentation in accordance with internal quality standards. Collaborate with firm leadership on complex, high-risk, or non-routine tax planning matters. Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and high-quality deliverables. Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, templates, and operational efficiency. Take ownership of outcomes, resolve challenges proactively, and communicate potential issues clearly and promptly. Requirements: The ideal candidate is an experienced tax professional who enjoys advisory work, independent decision-making, and direct client engagement. You should have a strong foundation in public accounting and tax preparation, alongside the ability to turn technical expertise into practical strategies that business owners can understand and implement. The key qualifications include: An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is required. At least five years of public accounting experience, with a strong foundation in tax preparation and tax planning. Demonstrated experience independently managing tax planning engagements from initial discovery through final delivery. Experience advising business owners, ideally those operating businesses with $1 million to $10 million or more in gross receipts. Strong technical knowledge of individual and business tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, and 1120. Thorough understanding of federal and state tax laws, entity structuring, tax elections, deductions, and tax optimization strategies. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters to clients without a technical background. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage a client portfolio and competing deadlines independently. Sound professional judgment and the ability to recognize when complex or higher-risk matters require collaboration with firm leadership. A proactive, client-focused approach to relationship management, service quality, and ongoing tax planning. Strong problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and a willingness to take ownership of commitments and deliverables. A sense of urgency, the ability to prioritize effectively, and a commitment to communicating clearly and raising potential issues early. A continuous improvement mindset and a willingness to learn through action, share ideas, and help improve working practices. Benefits: Salary: $120,000–$170,000 per year, depending on experience. Bonus eligibility: Additional bonus opportunities. Work arrangement: Fully remote within Florida, Texas, or Tennessee. Employment type: Full-time, with an expected commitment of 40 or more hours per week. Healthcare: Health benefits. Retirement: 401(k) plan. Time off: Paid time off and paid holidays. Team culture: A supportive, growth-oriented environment that values collaboration, professional development, and operational excellence. Autonomy: Ownership of client relationships, planning engagements, and professional decisions. Meaningful work: The opportunity to help business owners uncover tax-saving opportunities and make informed long-term financial decisions.
