Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical Chief of Staff based in Germany. Support the CTO of a fast-growing cybersecurity and web infrastructure business by turning technical priorities into coordinated execution and measurable results. In this high-trust role, you will work closely with senior technical leadership and engineering teams to ensure decisions translate into clear plans, responsibilities, and outcomes. You will bring structure to complex discussions, coordinate cross-functional initiatives, and improve visibility across engineering projects without adding unnecessary bureaucracy. Combining technical understanding with exceptional organizational and communication skills, you will help identify blockers, manage dependencies, and maintain momentum across teams. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to the effectiveness of a global technology organization operating at the intersection of cybersecurity, internet infrastructure, and AI. You will enjoy meaningful autonomy, broad exposure to strategic decisions, and the opportunity to make a tangible impact during an important phase of growth.
As Technical Chief of Staff, you will act as a trusted partner to the CTO, ensuring that technical priorities are clearly communicated, effectively coordinated, and consistently delivered across the engineering organization. Your key responsibilities will include: Strategic Execution: Translate the CTO’s technical priorities, decisions, and objectives into actionable plans, clear responsibilities, and measurable deliverables across teams. Cross-Functional Coordination: Facilitate communication between the CTO, engineering teams, and other stakeholders to maintain alignment, reduce communication gaps, and improve operational efficiency. Project Tracking and Accountability: Monitor engineering initiatives using tools such as Jira, track progress against agreed milestones, identify blockers, and follow up on commitments. Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation, decision records, project updates, and other materials that support transparency and effective execution. Meeting Facilitation: Coordinate and facilitate engineering discussions, capture key decisions, clarify next steps, and ensure agreed actions are completed. Risk and Dependency Management: Proactively identify delays, dependencies, execution gaps, and communication issues, constructively challenging teams when necessary. Process Improvement: Establish lightweight coordination, reporting, and workflow practices that improve visibility and accountability without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy. Operational Support: Serve as a reliable point of contact for coordination and operational matters within the CTO’s organization, enabling senior technical leadership to focus on architecture, technology, and long-term product direction. Stakeholder Alignment: Help teams understand technical decisions and their implications, ensuring priorities remain aligned with the broader engineering strategy. Requirements: The ideal candidate combines strong technical literacy with outstanding execution, organization, and stakeholder management skills. You should be comfortable following complex engineering discussions, translating them into clear actions, and driving progress through collaboration rather than formal authority. The following qualifications and attributes are expected: Technical Background: Experience in software engineering, technical program management, engineering operations, or a comparable role within a technology-driven organization. Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of web infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, software development, or related technical domains. Technical Communication: Ability to understand complex technical discussions, identify important decisions and implications, and communicate them accurately to different audiences. Project and Program Coordination: Demonstrated experience coordinating technical teams, managing dependencies, and driving execution across multiple stakeholders. Organization and Documentation: Excellent written communication, documentation, planning, organization, and follow-through skills. Accountability and Influence: Confidence in challenging delays, clarifying ownership, and holding stakeholders accountable while maintaining constructive working relationships. Independent Judgment: Strong discretion, maturity, sound judgment, and a pragmatic approach to resolving problems and prioritizing work. Autonomy and Alignment: Ability to work independently while remaining closely aligned with the CTO’s priorities and technical direction. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Experience: Background in cybersecurity, bot mitigation, fraud prevention, web application security, or internet infrastructure is particularly valuable. Engineering Delivery Experience: Familiarity with engineering project delivery, technical program management, or software development lifecycle coordination is an advantage. Technical Collaboration Tools: Experience with Jira, Confluence, GitLab, or similar engineering collaboration and project management tools is beneficial. Senior Leadership Exposure: Experience working directly with senior technical leaders in a fast-growing technology organization is a plus. Role Understanding: Ability to support technical leadership without attempting to replace it, bringing structure to complex discussions and ensuring decisions are executed without needing to own every technical decision. Benefits: Direct Leadership Exposure: Work closely with the CTO and gain broad insight into technology strategy, engineering operations, and product direction. Meaningful Impact: Help a growing engineering organization improve execution, coordination, and operational effectiveness. High-Trust Responsibilities: Take ownership of an important role with meaningful autonomy, responsibility, and direct access to senior leadership. Growth-Stage Opportunity: Join an expanding cybersecurity and web infrastructure business during a significant phase of investment and international growth. Strategic Visibility: Gain exposure to complex technical initiatives and decisions across a global technology organization. Remote Work: Work remotely from within Europe. Employment Arrangements: Employment options are available in the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, and Estonia, with contractor arrangements available in other locations. Compensation: Salary or compensation is based on experience and location. Inclusive Culture: Join an organization committed to diversity and inclusion, welcoming candidates with different backgrounds and experiences.
