This senior leadership role focuses on Quality of Earnings, working capital assessments, financial modeling, and transaction risk analysis. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to private equity firms, venture capitalists, lenders, attorneys, investment bankers, and business leaders. Lead buy-side financial due diligence engagements, including Quality of Earnings, Quality of Assets, and tailored analyses for corporate acquirers, private equity investors, and lenders. Manage sell-side due diligence and transaction consulting engagements from planning through final delivery. Identify financial risks, earnings adjustments, and other findings that may affect purchase price, transaction structure, negotiations, or the decision to proceed with a deal. Analyze reported earnings to determine sustainable recurring operating performance and deliver high-quality findings within demanding transaction timelines. Prepare Net Working Capital and Net Debt analyses, support working capital disputes, and evaluate financial considerations that influence transaction value. Develop financial models, market multiples, valuation analyses, and cash flow projections, including assessments of leveraged and unleveraged management buyouts. Review financial statements and underlying data to identify trends, accounting inconsistencies, departures from GAAP, and key operational characteristics. Lead client discussions and present Quality of Earnings results, material risks, and recommendations to business owners, boards, investors, and other stakeholders. Generate new business opportunities, lead proposals, cultivate relationships with private equity firms, venture capitalists, investment bankers, attorneys, lenders, and other transaction professionals. Prepare engagement letters, establish fees, develop budgets, and oversee engagement economics and realization. Build and improve practice processes to strengthen service delivery, operational efficiency, and transaction execution. Supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate senior team members, staff, and interns while maintaining high standards of quality and meeting reporting and valuation deadlines. Collaborate with management teams and other M&A advisors throughout the transaction lifecycle, coordinating with legal counsel, investment bankers, and other key participants. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential. Progressive experience in financial due diligence, Quality of Earnings, business valuation, and financial analysis, with demonstrated responsibility for managing engagements and leading at the director level. Strong command of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial reporting, internal control objectives, financial statement analysis, and revenue recognition. Proven expertise in Quality of Earnings and Quality of Assets assessments, working capital and Net Debt analysis, business valuation methodologies, financial modeling, cash flow analysis, ratio analysis, and variance analysis. Experience managing complex client engagements, interpreting financial findings, communicating transaction risks, and delivering actionable recommendations under tight deadlines. Demonstrated business development capabilities, including originating revenue, leading proposals, developing client relationships, and expanding a transaction advisory practice. Strong client-facing communication and relationship-building skills, particularly with private equity firms, lenders, attorneys, investment bankers, business owners, and other deal stakeholders. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; familiarity with PitchBook, DealStats, and the practical use of AI tools to support individual transaction engagements. Ability to lead, develop, and motivate teams while building effective processes and fostering a collaborative, results-oriented environment. An entrepreneurial mindset, sound judgment, strong analytical and organizational skills, effective time management, adaptability, and the ability to learn quickly and perform under pressure. Preferred qualifications: Background in external audit and financial statement preparation, including GAAP-compliant reporting and auditor communications. Experience advising clients across multiple industries, such as financial services, SaaS and technology, distribution, manufacturing, construction, and media. A demonstrated track record of originating revenue, winning new engagements, and leading proposals within a transaction advisory practice. Benefits: Competitive compensation: Listed annual salary range of $200,000–$230,000 for New Jersey and New York. Remote flexibility: Fully remote work arrangement, with occasional travel to the Boston office required; candidates in Greater Boston or New England are preferred. Senior leadership opportunity: The ability to shape transaction advisory engagements, influence practice strategy, and contribute directly to business growth. Professional development: Opportunities to mentor colleagues, strengthen leadership capabilities, and expand expertise across complex transactions and industries.
