Overview
An automatic 2027 tuition scholarship for eligible international students entering the University of Canterbury Bachelor of Commerce, worth NZ$5,000 for qualifying NCEA entrants or NZ$10,000 for specified international qualifications and nationalities.
Complete scholarship details
Eligibility is assessed automatically after an applicant receives an offer of place; there is no separate scholarship application. The award normally reduces first-year tuition fees, although UC may apply it to the second year when it is combined with certain other UC international scholarships.
Eligibility requirements
For the NCEA route, the applicant must be an international student entering the UC Bachelor of Commerce for the first time, not transferring from another UC programme, and have gained admission via NCEA in the preceding 12 months. For the NZ$10,000 route, applicants must enter the BCom for the first time, not transfer from another UC programme, hold an eligible passport from Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand or Vietnam, and gain admission through one of the qualifying school-leaver credentials listed by UC.
Tips for this scholarship
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
Verification notes
Verified against the University of Canterbury Business School page dated 14 August 2026. UC states that eligibility is assessed automatically after an offer of place, with no separate scholarship application. No standalone scholarship deadline is stated, so deadline fields remain null.
