BBSRC's 2026 Proof of Concept opportunity supports translation of BBSRC-backed bioscience research toward products, services or other practical solutions, with projects of £100,000–£800,000 full economic cost.

UKRI lists a £3 million total fund. Projects can run for up to 24 months and BBSRC funds 80% of full economic cost, meaning up to £640,000 support on a project with £800,000 FEC. Proposals must have a direct link to current or previous BBSRC-supported research.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for BBSRC funding, and the proposed work must have a direct link to current or previous BBSRC-supported funding. Overseas organisations and researchers based at overseas institutions are not eligible.
