The role includes teaching in the computer science programme, including introductory courses; supervision of master's and doctoral students; research in computer science, software engineering or related fields; attracting domestic and international research funding; and participation in departmental administration and teaching development. The university particularly welcomes expertise in human-computer interaction, applied AI including generative-AI-assisted software development and validation, cyber-physical systems, and cybersecurity. The appointment is initially for five years with the possibility of permanent appointment under university rules.

Requirements & qualifications

Applicants need a PhD in computer science, software engineering or a closely related field; an active international research publication record; good written and spoken English; and strong collaboration and communication skills. University teaching and supervision, research-funding experience, interdisciplinary or industry collaboration are advantages. Icelandic teaching ability is advantageous; the university states that the appointee must reach B1 Icelandic within four years and offers support toward that requirement.
