Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a VP Head of Studio based in the United States. As VP Head of Studio, you will lead the evolution of a global creative production organization, overseeing traditional production, Generative AI (GenAI), and marketing production functions. You will define creative and technical standards while building innovative workflows that combine established production expertise with emerging AI capabilities. Working closely with executive leadership, creative teams, and major technology partners, you will drive high-quality content creation at scale. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams spanning directing, motion graphics, editorial, visual effects, and AI-generated content, ensuring excellence from concept development through final delivery. Beyond creative leadership, you will shape commercial strategies, optimize resources, and support business growth through client pitches and strategic partnerships. This senior leadership opportunity is ideal for an accomplished production expert who combines creative vision, technical depth, commercial acumen, and a forward-thinking approach to the future of content.
Studio Leadership and Strategic Direction: Lead the performance, strategic direction, and operational development of traditional production, GenAI, and marketing production functions. Manage creative and production leaders, establish consistent quality standards, and report on studio performance, capacity, and strategic priorities to global executive leadership. Traditional Production and Creative Oversight: Oversee live-action shoots, commercial productions, motion graphics, website animations, social content, configurators, and large-scale content initiatives. Partner with Creative Directors to develop production approaches that translate creative briefs into compelling, high-quality deliverables. End-to-End Production Management: Direct video projects from concept development through final delivery, ensuring creative excellence, technical precision, and consistency across every stage. Provide executive-level oversight of post-production, including visual effects, compositing, color grading, editing, and technical filmmaking. Production Technology and Tooling: Develop and maintain custom production tools, code-based workflows, and scalable VFX pipelines that improve efficiency, consistency, and output quality across complex production environments. GenAI Studio Leadership: Lead the development of GenAI production capabilities, overseeing the design of multi-model workflows that deliver high-fidelity, consistent, and art-directable visual content. Establish production-grade processes that integrate generative AI into established creative methodologies. Future-of-Content Innovation: Champion hybrid production approaches that combine traditional filmmaking with AI-generated imagery, video, and other creative outputs. Evaluate emerging technologies, introduce new working methods, and guide teams through the operational and creative changes required to scale AI-enabled production. Marketing Production Oversight: Provide creative direction for brand films, case-study videos, and other marketing deliverables, strengthening narrative structure, visual storytelling, and brand impact. Oversee production planning, scheduling, budgeting, vendor coordination, and delivery through studio leadership. Executive Production and Commercial Strategy: Act as Executive Producer for studio engagements, collaborating with production leadership to develop pricing models, commercial structures, and service packages for internal and external projects. Talent and Resource Management: Partner with regional operations teams to optimize talent allocation across client-billable assignments and internally funded initiatives. Support recruitment, assessment, and selection of permanent employees, contractors, freelancers, and specialized production partners. Presales and Business Development: Serve as the senior creative and technical authority in pitches, presenting production and GenAI capabilities to CMOs, executive decision-makers, and other senior client stakeholders. Support account expansion by identifying opportunities, qualifying potential engagements, and providing specialist input during commercial discussions. Strategic Technology Partnerships: Collaborate with major technology platform partners, including Google and Microsoft, to develop customized solutions that support content supply chains and encourage adoption of scalable production technologies. Operational Excellence and Change Management: Introduce repeatable workflows, improve resource utilization, and establish production methodologies that balance creative ambition, technical reliability, commercial performance, and operational scalability. Requirements: Professional Experience: At least 15 years of experience in television commercial (TVC) and commercial production, spanning creative direction, directing, and post-production. Broad Creative and Technical Expertise: A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise across creative concept development, directing, post-production, visual effects, motion graphics, color grading, technical filmmaking, and GenAI-powered content. Candidates should demonstrate multidisciplinary depth rather than specialization in a single production area. Post-Production and VFX Expertise: Strong technical knowledge of VFX compositing, color workflows, editing, and filmmaking processes, with the ability to evaluate and maintain exceptional production quality. Studio and Team Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading multiple production functions and multidisciplinary teams, establishing creative standards, managing senior talent, and delivering consistent results across complex projects. GenAI and Multi-Model Workflows: Proven expertise in developing and managing generative AI production pipelines, with the ability to control visual fidelity, consistency, and creative direction across outputs. Production Innovation and Change Management: Experience introducing new production methodologies, integrating emerging technologies into existing workflows, and guiding teams through meaningful operational change beyond simply adopting new tools. Coding and Technical Tooling: Practical experience with coding or scripting to build or improve production tools, automate workflows, and support complex content creation or VFX pipelines. Commercial and Financial Acumen: Experience developing pricing strategies, commercial models, and service structures for creative production. Ability to assess project scope, budgets, resources, and profitability. Resource and Talent Management: Experience planning team utilization across client-facing and internal projects, managing external talent networks, and coordinating freelancers, contractors, and production partners. Client-Facing Leadership: Confidence presenting complex creative and technical concepts to C-suite executives, CMOs, and other senior stakeholders. Experience supporting presales activities, qualifying opportunities, and contributing to account growth is essential. Strategic and Creative Judgment: Ability to balance creative ambition with production feasibility, commercial considerations, technical requirements, and client expectations. Communication Skills: Advanced to fluent English proficiency, with excellent presentation, interpersonal, and written communication skills. Adaptability and Innovation: A forward-thinking mindset, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to operate effectively in a global, multidisciplinary environment where creative technology continues to evolve. Candidates who do not meet every listed qualification are still encouraged to apply if they bring relevant expertise, distinctive creative perspectives, and a willingness to innovate. A commitment to inclusion, collaboration, and continuous learning is valued. Benefits: Competitive annual salary: USD $176,000–$220,000, depending on experience and location. Flexible work arrangements: Remote and hybrid working options, depending on location and business requirements. Health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their families, along with employer contributions to Health Savings Accounts. Professional development: Access to learning programs, industry experts, advanced creative technologies, and professional training. Career advancement: Opportunities for leadership growth, international mobility, and collaboration across global markets. Innovation-driven environment: Work at the intersection of creativity, AI, data, and technology, helping shape the future of large-scale content production. Global collaboration: Partner with multidisciplinary teams, leading brands, and major technology platforms on complex creative and production initiatives. Inclusive workplace culture: Join an environment that values diversity, autonomy, collaboration, and continuous professional growth.
