Fully paid training provided, including a funded Certificate IV in Youth Justice.Earn up to $99,645 per year, on a base of $62,104 (including standard penalty rates).Youth justice workers are based across our three precincts of Cherry Creek, Parkville and Malmsbury.The role of a youth justice worker - nightsYouth justice workers (Nights) are the frontline staff who supervise and support young people overnight who are on remand or serving a sentence in custody.This is not a security job with long stretches of downtime. You will speak directly to young people throughout the night, typically through their intercom. When they feel vulnerable, they may reach out. Some conversations will be raw and personal. You will listen with care and compassion while keeping firm boundaries.You will also:conduct regular wellbeing checks of young peopleredirect anti-social and challenging behaviourmonitor CCTV, complete compliance reporting and respond to any alarms respond to incidents as they occurfacilitate support from other services, including health and mental health providers, educators and disability organisations.What you will getBeing a youth justice worker on night shift isn't for everyone. Learn how your current fitness levels match up and the best ways to prepare.Prior to starting work, all successful candidates must independently obtain:Current First Aid Certification (HLTAID011)Current CPR CertificationA valid Working with Children Check (Employee)Please note, all certificates must be valid for at least three months from employment start date.A driver's licence is desirable but not mandatory.CHILD SAFE STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT:The Department of Justice and Community Safety is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
