The project studies how intelligent systems can preserve and reason over competing hypotheses rather than prematurely committing to a single explanation in uncertain, safety-critical scenarios. The research connects belief functions and evidence theory, knowledge representation, formal modelling, consistency-based diagnosis and decision support, with immersive or XR scenarios including healthcare and aviation contexts where fixation errors can be consequential. The official posting lists a gross salary of EUR 3,043 per month, a 12-month full-time fixed-term contract and a planned hire date of 1 September 2026. Applicants should hold a doctorate in artificial intelligence, computer science, applied mathematics or a closely related discipline and have strong formal-modelling skills. Experience with uncertainty reasoning, transferable belief models or belief functions, evidence theory, knowledge representation, consistency-based diagnosis, formal decision support or scenario generation is particularly relevant.
