Hellenic State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) Opportunities

The co-funded 2026 call supports PhD candidates across natural sciences, engineering and technology, agricultural sciences, medicine and health sciences, humanities, social sciences, economics and law. Selected scholars receive a monthly stipend while making satisfactory progress on the approved doctoral thesis. The scholarship ends no later than 36 consecutive months and ends earlier if the thesis is successfully defended.

Applicants must have a Greek tax identification number (AFM), have been formally declared a PhD candidate with the three-member advisory committee appointed between 2 January 2021 and 31 December 2024, have fulfilled obligations from any previous IKY scholarship, and not receive another scholarship for the same purpose during this award. Per-capita income for tax year 2025 must not exceed €16,000. Male applicants must have completed, been legally exempted from, or hold a military deferment sufficient for the full scholarship and doctoral period.
