Position Overview

The Senior Director, Finance reports to the SVP, Revenue and Finance Operations and is responsible for the consolidated financial picture of Iconic’s catalog portfolio — from revenue and COGS at the artist level through to company-wide budgets, forecasts, and management reporting. The role owns operational financial reporting and portfolio forecasting, leads the Revenue Operations team, and partners closely with Accounting to bridge operational results to GAAP financials. The position sits within the finance department with frequent interaction with Accounting, Business Affairs, and business unit leadership.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on finance leader who is well versed in music royalties and equally comfortable building a bottoms-up forecast, presenting variance analysis to executives, and supporting catalog acquisitions through diligence and integration. In addition, the candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and an effective people manager who can build the capacity and capabilities of a growing finance organization.

Essential Responsibilities

Portfolio Revenue & Performance Management

• Consolidate the full portfolio of catalogs to manage the big-picture view of revenue and COGS.
• Work with Revenue Operations Managers to forecast short-term and long-term portfolio performance to support strategic decision-making.
• Maintain performance highlights and case studies, with a clear understanding of YoY and Budget vs. Forecast movements.
• Build operational financial reporting, including P&L and overall artist positions.

Financial Planning, Budgeting & Reporting

• In collaboration with the Accounting team, build the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
• Provide management reports including variance analysis and timely communication of material forecast changes.
• In collaboration with the Director, Accounting, provide a bridge of financial performance between GAAP and operational financials.
• Ensure OPEX needs are identified and work with the Manager, Accounting to forecast expected expenses and cash flow.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment.

Strategic Finance & Business Partnership

• Identify risks and opportunities to drive financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.
• Evaluate and support acquisitions and other strategic transactions, including due diligence and integration.
• Partner with business unit leaders to drive financial accountability and performance.
• Build relationships with label partners to usher collaboration and problem solving.

Team Leadership & Process Improvement

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance organization.
• Supervise and develop junior staff.
• Build team structure, capacity, and capabilities to support company growth.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Drive process automation and efficiency initiatives across the finance function.
• Partner with IT and Operations on system implementations and upgrades.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Music Business, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or financial planning and analysis, including 3+ years leading and developing a team.
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the ability to bridge between operational and GAAP financial results.
• Demonstrated ownership of the full planning cycle — annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, management reporting, and variance analysis — for a multi-entity or multi-asset business.
• Strong understanding of music revenue streams, including publishing, recorded music, performing rights income, licensing, and royalty statement processing.
• Advanced financial modeling and Microsoft Excel skills, including building forecasts from transaction-level royalty data.
• Experience working with financial reporting systems, royalty accounting platforms, ERP systems, and large datasets.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain a strong internal control environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to executives, business unit leaders, and external partners.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or MBA.
• Experience with music catalog acquisitions, including due diligence, valuation methodologies, and post-close integration.
• Knowledge of music publishing and recorded music agreements and royalty calculations.
• Experience building or scaling a finance function in a high-growth environment.
• Familiarity with SQL, Power BI, or similar analytical and business intelligence tools.
• Experience leading system implementations or process automation initiatives in partnership with IT.

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation: $160,000–$175,000 annually, based on experience, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

Location & Work Schedule

• This position is based in our Westwood Village office in Los Angeles, CA. Employees are expected to work onsite Monday through Thursday, with remote work on Fridays at the manager’s discretion.
