The Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics is one of 85 research institutes of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science e.V. (MPG). As an innovative, internationally active research institution with about 400 employees we conduct experimental and theoretical basic research in the fields of High-Energy Astrophysics, Atomic and Molecular Physics (Quantum Dynamics) as well as Particle and Astroparticle Physics.

The Astrophysical Plasma Theory Group (Dr. Brian Reville) offers a Postdoc position (m/f/d).

Your field of activity

• Work in the field of theoretical high-energy particle/astroparticle physics

• Use of analytic and numerical methods to explore opportunities for next generation gamma-ray instruments with a focus on constraining dark matter candidates

• Develop predictions for multi-wavelength observations

• Scientific interpretation of results and preparation of scientific publications

Requirements

• PhD in astrophysics / particle physics or related field

• Knowledge in particle/astroparticle physics, cosmology, and physics beyond the standard model

• Experience with modern programming languages (C/Fortran/Python)

• Full proficiency in English, both spoken and written

The position is initially offered for 2 years. The salary will be paid according to the collective agreement for civil service employees in Germany (TVöD).
