Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) / Embassy of Japan in the Lao PDR Opportunities

The Laos call covers five one-year YLP courses: Business Administration at Hitotsubashi University, Healthcare Administration at Nagoya University, Law at Kyushu University, and the School of Government and School of Local Governance at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS). Applications are routed through the relevant Lao recommending organization for the selected course. The embassy states only a mid-September 2026 submission deadline and instructs candidates to confirm the exact date and procedure with the recommending organization.

Eligibility is course-specific and nomination-based. The Laos announcement targets, depending on the course, entrepreneurs/business managers/public officials, healthcare administrators, legal professionals, and young public administrators/government officials. Official Study in Japan guidance describes YLP candidates in principle as under 40, university graduates with practical work experience, including young public administrators from Asian countries. Applicants must also satisfy the detailed 2027 course guidelines and the requirements of the designated Lao recommending organization.
