Eligible thesis topics may fall within classical humanities such as linguistics, literature, archaeology, history, arts, philosophy and anthropology; applied humanities such as digital humanities, architecture, communication, education, political science and law; or health humanities including landscape architecture, geography, environmental humanities, psychology and medical humanities. The official announcement does not state a grant amount on the public call page.

The applicant's proposed thesis outline must already have been approved by the higher-education institution where the applicant is currently studying before the proposal deadline. The thesis must align with one of the fiscal-year 2027 research themes listed in the official call, and the applicant's institution must endorse the proposal in NRIIS.
