UNU-WIDER Opportunities

The Visiting PhD Fellowship Programme accepts online applications twice yearly. The September application form becomes active on 1 September and closes on 30 September at 23:59 UTC+3. Successful September applicants visit UNU-WIDER in Helsinki for three months during April–June of the following year, conduct dissertation-related research, prepare papers and present their work.

Applicants must remain enrolled in a PhD programme during the fellowship and demonstrate research ability on developing economies. Other social-science candidates may apply, although UNU-WIDER is economics-focused. Strong English and quantitative and/or qualitative analytical skills are required. The programme especially encourages later-stage PhD researchers, women, early-career researchers and applicants from developing countries; the official Q&A says the programme is open to everyone enrolled in a PhD.
