Opportunities from ANU National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health

The McMichael Award supports interdisciplinary research at the intersection of human and environmental health, including climate change, planetary health, population health, equity, public policy, environmental science and related fields. Funding can support activities such as fieldwork, data collection, research staff, analysis, equipment, training, travel, publication and dissemination. One award is offered in 2026.

Applicants must be domestic researchers—Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents or permanent humanitarian visa holders—and salaried ANU researchers 3–9 years full-time-equivalent from PhD completion. They must be continuing or have at least 12 months remaining on contract at award receipt, not be on extended leave without pay, and not hold a Category 1 fellowship or equivalent at the time of award.
