The current Naoero country profile states that scholarship recipients receive return air travel, a one-off establishment allowance, full tuition fees, a contribution to living expenses, an introductory academic program, overseas student health cover, supplementary academic support, and a fieldwork allowance where applicable. Priority fields include aviation management, business and finance, community and social development, education, environment and climate change, health, infrastructure, policy and governance, and STEM.

Applicants must be citizens of Naoero and meet the Australia Awards Scholarships Policy Handbook plus Naoero-specific conditions. Bachelor applicants must meet the published Year 12-equivalent requirements and must not already hold or have substantially completed an equivalent or higher qualification. Master’s applicants must hold a first degree related to the proposed field, have at least two years of relevant work experience, and must not already hold or have substantially completed a Master’s degree.
