About the Role

Big Viking Games is looking for a Live Content Marketing Specialist to support Fish World, one of our long-running live-service games with a loyal player community and recurring content calendar.

This is a hands-on, detail-heavy role for someone who can help prepare, configure, schedule, QA, and ship weekly content releases and promotional activity with consistency and accuracy.

You will work closely with the Fish World Product Manager, Production, Art, QA, Product, and Live Operations to keep releases moving, ensure assets are prepared correctly, and help deliver player-facing content that meets the standards of the game.

This role is not about high-level marketing theory. It is about execution. You will work inside the release pipeline, manage content details, prepare assets, follow pricing and naming standards, update Jira and Confluence, respond to QA, and help fix live issues quickly when something goes wrong.

You will also be expected to work in an AI-forward way. BVG is actively using AI tools and workflows to reduce manual work, improve quality checks, speed up documentation, and make recurring release work more efficient. The right person is comfortable using AI tools daily, adopting existing workflows, and identifying what should be automated next.

This is a hybrid contractor role based in Toronto, with an expectation of working from our Queens Quay West office four days per week.

Requirements

What You’ll Do

Live Content and Release Execution

• Own the Fish World release calendar for your lane, including weekly recurring releases, promotional content, and scheduled live content updates.
• Set up and ship recurring promotions and release types, including tiered deals, Fishbuck and premium packs, loyalty deals, grab bags, mystery crates, limited sets, retirement sales, slots and jackpot rewards, Premium Pass claims, free gifts, pull tabs, Heist, Bingo, Slotto, and other documented release formats.
• Prepare content packages that are accurate, visually appealing, and aligned with player expectations and game standards.
• Follow documented pricing guides, sale standards, naming conventions, sourcing rules, and release procedures.
• Ensure content is prepared and released on time, with the right assets, item IDs, pricing, configuration, and supporting documentation.
• Track deal performance against baseline expectations and bring observations into scrum, retrospectives, and planning conversations.

Asset Preparation and Tooling

• Prepare and upload approved art assets using Adobe Animate, Photoshop, SVN, and BVG internal tools.
• Build promotional visuals from templates according to documented sale standards.
• Upload content to staging, verify it, and support the sync to live.
• Work with approved art and content assets while maintaining accuracy across file naming, formatting, configuration, and release requirements.
• Use internal tools carefully and consistently to reduce release errors and improve content velocity.

Pipeline, QA, and Live Issue Response

• Manage Jira tickets and keep release work current, clear, and properly documented.
• Mark releases Ready for QA on the release calendar when they meet requirements.
• Respond quickly to QA feedback, production questions, and player-reported issues.
• Support same-day issue resolution where needed.
• Help fix live mistakes quickly, with urgency and care for the player experience.
• Partner with Production, Art, QA, Product, and Live Operations to keep releases moving cleanly from planning through launch.
• Maintain clear communication around status, blockers, changes, and risks.

Content Sourcing and Documentation

• Support weekly classic content sourcing using documented rules, including 90-day and exclusivity requirements.
• Keep sourcing sheets accurate and current.
• Feed Jira with the right item IDs, notes, and supporting details.
• Maintain Confluence documentation for procedures, release types, workflows, and recurring tasks.
• Ensure every procedure has an owner and a last-verified date where appropriate.
• Help improve documentation as tools, processes, release types, and AI workflows evolve.

AI, Automation, and Workflow Improvement

• Use BVG’s AI workflows for Live Content Marketing, including Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT, and other approved tools where appropriate.
• Use AI tools to improve release preparation, content checks, documentation, QA readiness, item validation, naming checks, and workflow speed.
• Adopt new AI and automation tools as they are introduced into the content pipeline.
• Identify repetitive manual work that should be automated, simplified, or turned into a reusable checklist, prompt, or workflow.
• Provide clear feedback on where AI tools help, where they miss, and where human review is still required.
• Help reduce hours per release over time without lowering quality, accuracy, or player experience.

What You Bring

• Experience shipping content, promotions, digital storefront updates, live operations content, or high-cadence player/customer-facing digital releases.
• Strong proficiency with Adobe Animate and Photoshop.
• Experience using Jira, Confluence, Google Sheets, and structured release or project-management workflows.
• Comfort working with spreadsheets, formulas, item lists, asset trackers, pricing guides, and naming conventions.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to catch small errors before they reach players.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in scrums, planning meetings, retrospectives, and cross-functional production conversations.
• A fan-centric mindset and the ability to view content, promotions, and issues through the player experience.
• Practical day-to-day use of AI tools such as Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar tools to improve workflow, documentation, content checks, problem solving, or production speed.
• AI-forward mindset, with curiosity about how better tools, prompts, automation, and repeatable workflows can improve live content execution.
• Ability to explain at least one example of how you used AI or automation to improve a workflow, reduce manual work, catch errors, or move faster.
• Ability to work from our Toronto office four days per week.
• Ontario-based independent contractor status and eligibility to work in Canada.

Nice to Have

• Experience working on live-service games, social games, web games, virtual worlds, casual games, or free-to-play products.
• Experience with game economies, pricing guides, virtual goods, item catalogues, bundles, crates, offers, or promotional content.
• Experience with SVN or other source-control tools.
• Experience with internal content tools, CMS platforms, live operations tooling, storefront tools, or release-management systems.
• Experience working with Art, QA, Product, Production, and Live Operations teams.
• Experience building reusable AI prompts, checklists, automation workflows, QA review aids, or content validation processes.
• Passion for games and player communities.
• Portfolio or examples of shipped content, promotional visuals, storefront work, live operations content, or similar digital release work.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an execution-focused live content operator.

They are creative enough to understand what players will respond to, but disciplined enough to work inside release standards, pricing rules, naming conventions, QA processes, and production timelines.

They are highly detail-oriented. They notice when an asset is wrong, a price does not match the guide, an item ID is missing, a Jira ticket is incomplete, or a release step has been skipped.

They are comfortable with repetition, but not passive about it. If a process is manual, they follow it carefully today and look for ways to improve or automate it tomorrow.

They are AI-forward in a practical way. They are not expected to be an engineer, but they should be comfortable using modern AI tools to improve their own workflow, reduce manual effort, strengthen documentation, catch errors, and help the team move faster.

They work well with Production, Art, QA, Product, and Live Operations because they understand that live content succeeds when the whole pipeline is clean.

This role is best suited for someone who wants hands-on ownership of weekly live content execution for a game with an established player community.

Compensation and Contract Details

This is an Ontario-based independent contractor engagement at CAD $31 per hour.

Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This role is hybrid, with an expectation of working from our Queens Quay West office four days per week.

The engagement will continue based on performance, business needs, and ongoing content requirements.

Contractors are responsible for managing their own taxes, CPP contributions, insurance where applicable, and any other statutory or business obligations.
