Opportunities from Chevening — The Gambia

Chevening is the UK Government’s international scholarship programme for emerging leaders. The Gambia country page confirms the 2027–2028 round is open. A standard full Chevening Scholarship covers tuition fees, approved economy travel, an arrival allowance, the visa application cost, a departure allowance, a travel top-up allowance, a contribution toward required TB testing, and a monthly living stipend whose rate depends on study location and is reviewed annually.

Applicants must be citizens of a Chevening-eligible country or territory, commit to returning to their country of award for at least two years after the scholarship, have at least two years (2,800 hours) of work experience acquired after completing the undergraduate degree, hold an undergraduate degree that qualifies them for a UK master’s programme and have completed undergraduate studies at least two years before the application deadline. Applicants must apply to three different eligible UK university courses and later secure an unconditional offer from at least one by the relevant Chevening timeline deadline.
