Opportunities from ERDERA

The European Rare Diseases Research Alliance has opened its Clinical Trial Call 2026 for multinational, GCP-compliant Phase I, Phase I/II and Phase II interventional clinical trials in rare diseases. The mandatory Stage 0 Expression of Interest runs from 1 July to 10 September 2026. Stage 1 short proposals are scheduled for 15 September to 29 October 2026, followed by a structured support phase and full proposals in 2027. ERDERA has dedicated up to €30 million to the call; individual project budgets are expected broadly in the €1 million to €5 million range where justified. Funding is centralised and administered by Fondazione Telethon on behalf of ERDERA.

Eligible applicants include universities and research institutes, hospitals and clinical centres, non-profit research organisations and foundations, patient advocacy organisations, and SMEs subject to the call's funding rules. Funded partners are currently eligible from 27 listed countries including Lithuania, Ireland, Croatia, Slovenia and other European/Horizon Europe countries, plus Canada, Israel, Türkiye and the UK. The clinical trial sponsor must be established in an EU Member State or Norway. Applications must be multinational and satisfy the official clinical-trial, consortium and country-eligibility conditions.
