ISSP UL's Laboratory of Energy Materials is recruiting one full-time Laboratory Assistant (PhD student) on a fixed-term contract through May 2029, with a possibility of extension. The project is linked to the Swiss-Latvian LACISE research programme and covers inert protective coatings, electrochemical stability and advanced in-situ, operando and post-mortem characterization. The institute states a gross salary of EUR 1,500–2,000 and provides social guarantees and health insurance.

A master's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Technology or a related field is required. Experience in electrochemistry or functional materials is desirable; in-situ or operando characterization experience is an advantage. Applicants should have strong research motivation, be able to work independently and in an international team, and have excellent written and spoken English.
