Opportunities from Lånekassen

Applications are open for academic year 2026–2027. The published basic loan is NOK 15,488 per month. Qualifying students can have up to 40% of the basic support converted into a grant if they live away from their parents, complete a full degree and remain within the applicable income and asset limits. The published 2026 income threshold for full conversion is NOK 234,821. The general application deadline is 15 November 2026 for the autumn semester or the whole academic year; students applying only for spring have a 15 March 2027 deadline. Lånekassen states that higher-education support can cover study up to 480 ECTS at universities and approved university colleges.

Support is available to students who satisfy Lånekassen’s current education, residence or nationality and other eligibility rules. Grant conversion has additional conditions, including living away from parents, completing a full degree and meeting income and asset limits. Because eligibility differs by applicant status, applicants should use Lånekassen’s official assessment rather than assume entitlement.
