Opportunities from Swiss Confederation — Eswatini / SERI

The current programme offers a Research Fellowship for 6–12 months and a PhD scholarship initially for 12 months, renewable twice for up to 36 months subject to academic progress. Both routes provide CHF 2,450 per month for one person. Current additional benefits for non-EU/EFTA scholarship holders include compulsory health-insurance premium coverage, a CHF 600 rental-deposit grant, a Half-Fare Travelcard and a return-flight allowance. Tuition and semester fees are generally not covered.

Applicants from Eswatini must meet the current Research Fellowship or PhD criteria. These routes require a qualifying master’s degree or equivalent completed by 31 July 2027 (30 June 2027 for ETH Zurich), birth after 31 December 1991, a detailed research plan, and a letter of support from an academic supervisor in Switzerland.
