Opportunities from University of Queensland Scholarships

The Staunton Poetry Scholarship supports UQ Higher Degree by Research candidates whose thesis focuses on completing a collection of poems, poetry criticism, or who need to travel to conduct poetry research. The official 2026 scholarship value is a minimum of AUD 6,000 and may be as high as AUD 10,000. Applications open August 31 and close October 6, 2026.

Applicants must be current University of Queensland Higher Degree by Research candidates whose thesis focuses on a collection of poems or poetry criticism, or who need to travel for their poetry research. UQ lists domestic and international students as eligible. Applicants seeking travel support must obtain required supervisor approvals and follow UQ HDR travel procedures.
