Opportunities from University of Vienna — Tropical Field Station La Gamba Grants

The La Gamba - Regenwald der Österreicher - COBIGA - Roland Jehle scholarship call supports research tied to a stay at the Tropical Field Station La Gamba in Costa Rica. Eligible work can form part of MSc, PhD or postdoctoral research, with postdocs eligible up to seven years after completing the PhD. The scholarship provides €2,000 per person. The second 2026 application window opens 22 September and closes 15 October 2026. Applicants do not need to work at an Austrian university.

Advanced students and young scientists conducting research connected to a stay at the Tropical Field Station La Gamba may apply. MSc, PhD and postdoctoral research up to seven years after PhD completion can be supported. Applicants may be based outside Austrian universities. Completed work, pure analysis of data already collected in Costa Rica, and equipment required for fieldwork are not eligible.
