Responsibilities & complete job details

At AKS , we are growing and building for the future. We bring together multidisciplined experts across the land development, energy, and infrastructure markets to take on bigger challenges and deliver solutions that make a real difference. Our teams combine creativity, technical excellence, and a collaborative, hands-on approach to solve complex problems and deliver results our clients and communities can count on. We take pride in our work and our ability to provide opportunities for our teams, support each other’s growth, and look ahead to what’s next. When you join AKS, you will find opportunities to take ownership of meaningful projects, learn, lead, and make an impact from day one. We are looking for a Civil Engineer with strong civil and site development experience to support utility-scale renewable projects including solar, BESS, and wind. In this role, you'll lead onsite oversight of grading, roads, foundations, and drainage activities, ensure work aligns with plans and specifications, support QA/QC efforts, and help keep construction activities safe, efficient, and on schedule. You'll coordinate with EPC partners and subcontractors, support inspections and site walks, resolve field issues, and maintain clear documentation while serving as EPS's onsite representative. What You’ll Do Leading day-to-day onsite oversight of grading, roads, foundations, drainage, and other civil construction activities on utility-scale renewable energy projects. Overseeing survey and earthwork activities to ensure accuracy and alignment with project plans and specifications. Ensuring civil and structural quality through inspections, QA/QC efforts, and compliance with project specifications. Overseeing civil subcontractors, coordinating schedules, and ensuring work is completed safely and on schedule. Monitoring the delivery, staging, and tracking of Owner Supplied Equipment and civil materials onsite. Managing civil NCRs and corrective actions, including root cause analysis and resolution tracking. Supporting inspections, punch walks, permit closeouts, and compliance activities. Conducting regular site walks to monitor installation progress, identify potential issues, and help keep projects on schedule. Reviewing work plans, construction methods, safety procedures, and schedules for civil and general construction activities. Maintaining accurate project documentation related to site conditions, inspections, field decisions, and project progress. Serving as EPS's onsite representative while building strong working relationships with clients, utilities, AHJs, EPCs, contractors, and community stakeholders. Supporting team development by sharing knowledge, mentoring junior field staff, and contributing to operational improvement efforts. Who You Are Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering preferred.  Experienced construction professional with a civil engineering background and familiarity with solar, BESS, or wind projects. Skilled at coordinating multiple trades and managing civil scopes including grading, earthwork, foundations, and drainage in a fast-paced field environment. Strong communicator who builds trust with EPC partners, utilities, and internal teams. You have a "Do what needs to be done" mindset, taking ownership beyond assigned tasks and stepping in wherever needed to keep projects, teams, and customers supported and running smoothly. Excellent at documenting meetings, decisions, and site changes. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Adobe, and construction scheduling tools. Able to pass a background check, motor vehicle screening, and pre-employment drug test. Safety trained for field work (OSHA 10). Willing and able to travel to project sites across the United States. Nice to Have EIT or PE licensure. Experience with utility-scale solar, BESS, or wind construction. Familiarity with survey and earthwork coordination on large-scale projects. Experience managing NCRs, corrective actions, and turnover documentation. Why AKS? At AKS, we believe your work should support your life, not the other way around.
