Full Job Description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Join AWS Supply Chain as a Software Development Engineer II and build the systems that power the world's leading cloud infrastructure. You'll develop cutting-edge inventory and warehouse management systems that enable AWS to provide computing services to millions of customers worldwide. Working with a collaborative team of engineers, supply chain specialists, and operations managers, you'll solve complex problems with thousands of variables impacting the global supply chain. This role offers unique opportunities to work directly with business stakeholders in defining, designing, and operating products that ensure physical and financial control of inventory across AWS's global footprint.

We're looking for someone passionate about product design who innovates for customers in a flat team structure. You'll take true ownership of your work, from design through deployment, while contributing to the systems that keep the cloud running for hundreds of thousands of developers and businesses using AWS daily.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable software solutions for inventory and warehouse management systems that support AWS's global infrastructure operations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to deliver integrated solutions that meet business requirements
  • Participate actively in code review processes, providing meaningful feedback to teammates and ensuring high-quality, maintainable code across the team
  • Take operational responsibility for software systems, identifying root causes of issues and implementing permanent fixes to improve system reliability and performance
  • Work with customers and stakeholders to understand business value and requirements, ensuring software solutions align with long-term architectural strategy and customer needs

A day in the life You'll start your day reviewing system metrics and addressing any overnight operational issues with your global team. Throughout the day, you'll design and implement features for supply chain management systems, participate in collaborative code reviews, and work directly with business stakeholders to refine requirements. You'll spend time analyzing complex supply chain data patterns, building automated solutions for inventory orchestration, and mentoring new team members on system architecture and best practices.

About the team AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure - we're the people who keep the cloud running. Our Supply Chain Management team is at the heart of ensuring customers receive the right computing services, in the right region, at the right time. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continuous access to innovation.

We work on the most challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, building systems that enable AWS to rapidly grow while maintaining our position as the pioneer and leader in cloud computing. Our inclusive culture welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion, offering a unique opportunity for technical leaders who want to work closely with business teams in an environment that celebrates knowledge-sharing and mentorship.
