Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AI First Sr. iOS Engineer based in Canada. We are seeking a senior iOS engineer to design, build, and scale high-quality mobile experiences for a large-scale digital marketplace. In this role, you will develop customer-facing applications supporting both buyers and sellers while shaping technical architecture and improving platform reliability. You will leverage Swift, SwiftUI, and modern iOS engineering practices to deliver maintainable, performant, and secure mobile solutions. AI-powered development tools will be central to your workflow, helping accelerate coding, testing, debugging, and documentation without compromising engineering quality. Working closely with product, Android, backend, and platform teams, you will drive cross-platform consistency and contribute to ongoing technology modernization. This remote opportunity combines technical leadership, hands-on development, and mentorship in an environment that values innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Design, develop, test, and release high-quality iOS features across buyer and seller marketplace applications, ensuring performance, scalability, reliability, and an excellent user experience. Lead technical direction for iOS development, including SwiftUI adoption, integration with existing UIKit and Storyboard components, modular architecture, and shared internal frameworks. Drive architectural decisions involving Swift Package Manager (SPM), protocol-oriented programming, environment-based dependency injection, coordinators, and navigation patterns. Develop and maintain shared platform capabilities, including authentication and OpenID Connect (OIDC), feature flags, product analytics, crash reporting, and other cross-cutting mobile services. Establish and improve engineering standards through unit, UI, and snapshot testing, code reviews, automated quality gates, and continuous integration and delivery pipelines. Manage the complete feature lifecycle, from product and design collaboration through implementation, testing, release, production monitoring, and ongoing optimization. Use AI-powered development tools daily for coding, refactoring, test generation, debugging, root-cause analysis, and documentation, while validating outputs to ensure correctness and production readiness. Mentor intermediate engineers, share technical expertise, and promote sound engineering judgment, maintainable code, and responsible AI adoption. Collaborate with Android engineers to align product functionality and maintain consistent experiences across platforms. Support release management and distribution through TestFlight and the App Store, improving release automation, deployment reliability, and production readiness. Contribute to advanced mobile capabilities, including camera and scanning workflows, real-time functionality, and integrations with relevant services. Work closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, platform specialists, and QA teams to deliver customer-focused solutions and continuously improve development processes. Requirements: At least 5 years of professional iOS development experience, or equivalent technical depth, with a proven track record of building and operating production mobile applications at scale. Strong proficiency in Swift and substantial hands-on experience developing applications with SwiftUI, alongside the ability to work with UIKit and Storyboards in established codebases. Demonstrated experience shipping applications through TestFlight and the Apple App Store, with a solid understanding of release processes and production quality standards. Strong knowledge of iOS architecture, concurrency, networking, application performance, and maintainable software design. Experience with modular iOS architecture, Swift Package Manager (SPM), shared internal frameworks, protocol-oriented programming, dependency injection, and navigation coordination patterns. Familiarity with authentication technologies such as OIDC and AppAuth, feature flags, product analytics, crash reporting, and production observability. Experience implementing unit, UI, and snapshot tests, along with CI/CD pipelines, automated quality gates, code reviews, and release automation tools such as Fastlane. Practical experience using AI development tools, including coding copilots, AI-assisted debugging tools, and test generators, with the ability to critically evaluate AI outputs and take ownership of the resulting code. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, technical leadership, and a product-oriented mindset, with the ability to connect engineering decisions to customer needs and business outcomes. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to mentor colleagues, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and take responsibility for systems throughout their lifecycle. Adaptability, technical curiosity, and a commitment to continuous learning, engineering excellence, and responsible use of emerging technologies. Nice to have: Experience leading migrations from UIKit and Storyboards to SwiftUI. Background in wholesale, digital marketplaces, auctions, e-commerce, or high-volume transactional mobile applications. Experience mentoring engineers or reviewing Android/Kotlin pull requests to support cross-platform collaboration. Familiarity with BrowserStack, multi-platform snapshot testing strategies, or advanced mobile testing infrastructure. Experience with hybrid mobile application technologies, including WebView or Cordova integrations. Additional employment requirement: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants based in Canada should confirm cross-border employment eligibility and arrangements with the hiring team. Benefits: Competitive compensation: Annual salary ranging from $125,000 to $165,000 USD , depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and other relevant factors. Comprehensive healthcare: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, subject to the applicable employee benefits plan. Health spending options: Employer contributions to a Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options for eligible US employees. Retirement savings: RRSP with employer matching contributions for Canadian employees. Paid time off: Paid vacation, personal days, and sick leave. Family support: Paid maternity and paternity leave for eligible US employees. Financial protection: Employer-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) coverage for eligible US employees. Employee well-being: Access to a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program. Community engagement: An employer-paid volunteer day dedicated to community service. Professional development: Tuition reimbursement for eligible programs and opportunities to expand technical skills and share knowledge. Career advancement: Opportunities for internal promotions, diverse career paths, and meaningful professional growth within a global organization. Remote work flexibility: A full-time remote opportunity, with the specific employment arrangements for Canada to be confirmed with the hiring team. Innovative engineering environment: The opportunity to shape large-scale mobile applications, contribute to platform modernization, and use AI-driven development tools as part of everyday engineering work.
