We are seeking an experienced geospatial professional to support enterprise GIS operations, platform reliability, and modernization initiatives within a federal government environment. In this fully remote role, you will administer and optimize ArcGIS Enterprise systems, maintain critical geospatial services, and automate workflows across multiple environments. You will play a key role in platform upgrades, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and operational improvement initiatives. Working closely with infrastructure, cloud, development, and GIS teams, you will help ensure that enterprise geospatial systems remain secure, scalable, and dependable. The position also offers opportunities to contribute to cloud architecture assessments and the evolution of modern geospatial infrastructure. This is an opportunity to apply your technical expertise to complex, mission-driven systems while supporting continuous improvement and long-term platform resilience.
Administer, configure, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot ArcGIS Enterprise environments, including ArcGIS Server, geospatial services, datasets, and system integrations. Automate service publication, data refreshes, and other geospatial workflows across integration, certification, and production environments. Plan, test, execute, and document ArcGIS Enterprise upgrades, including compatibility assessments, rollback procedures, and post-upgrade validation. Deploy and maintain geospatial administration utilities, including GeoJobe Admin Tools, CleanMyOrg, and comparable solutions. Conduct ArcGIS Server load testing, performance tuning, capacity planning, scaling assessments, and resource optimization. Support service-health dashboards, platform monitoring, and integration with enterprise observability tools to improve system visibility and reliability. Contribute to modernization assessments for ArcGIS Enterprise on Amazon EKS, evaluating architecture, costs, security considerations, operational risks, and migration options. Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, development, and geospatial teams to resolve technical issues and improve platform operations. Maintain accurate technical documentation, performance metrics, system records, and change-management documentation. Follow applicable federal IT security standards, operational procedures, and established change-control practices. Participate in required government background investigation procedures as part of the hiring process. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, Information Technology, Geography, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. At least 5 years of professional experience in GIS systems administration, geospatial engineering, or a closely related technical role. Demonstrated experience administering and supporting Esri ArcGIS Enterprise environments, including ArcGIS Server. Hands-on experience configuring, publishing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise GIS services and geospatial datasets. Experience automating geospatial workflows, service publishing, or data management processes. Experience supporting ArcGIS Enterprise upgrades, routine maintenance, compatibility testing, and operational validation. Strong understanding of enterprise GIS architecture, system integrations, infrastructure dependencies, and platform reliability. Ability to monitor, diagnose, and resolve GIS platform performance, availability, and operational issues. Familiarity with scripting and automation technologies used in enterprise GIS environments. Experience producing technical documentation and following structured change-management procedures. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary technical teams. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting GIS platforms in federal government or other large enterprise environments. Proficiency in Python, ArcPy, or ArcGIS API for Python. Familiarity with GeoJobe Admin Tools, CleanMyOrg, or similar GIS administration utilities. Experience with ArcGIS Monitor, service-health dashboards, or enterprise monitoring and observability solutions. Background in ArcGIS Server load testing, performance optimization, capacity planning, and resource right-sizing. Familiarity with AWS, Amazon EKS, Kubernetes, or cloud-hosted GIS infrastructure. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment of GIS services. Knowledge of federal IT security standards, government technology environments, and formal change-management requirements. Relevant Esri or cloud technology certifications. Willingness to undergo the government-issued background investigation required for consideration. Benefits: Remote work: Fully remote position within the United States. Technical impact: Opportunity to support enterprise geospatial platforms and modernization initiatives in a federal government environment. Professional development: Exposure to cloud-hosted GIS architecture, automation, platform optimization, and emerging geospatial infrastructure practices. Cross-functional collaboration: Work alongside infrastructure, cloud, development, and geospatial specialists on complex technical challenges. Inclusive workplace: Veterans and candidates with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
