Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, IT Financial Management based in the United States. The Director of IT Financial Management will establish and lead an enterprise-wide capability designed to improve transparency, accountability, and strategic decision-making around technology investments. This high-impact role will connect Technology, Finance, and business teams to ensure technology spending is clearly understood and aligned with business value. Operating as a senior individual contributor, you will shape governance frameworks, financial processes, reporting standards, and long-term roadmaps across a complex, federated organization. You will build and guide a network of IT Financial Management stewards, fostering collaboration and consistent practices across business units with different levels of maturity. By translating complex financial and technology data into actionable insights, you will help senior leaders make better-informed decisions about costs, resources, risks, and investment priorities. The role offers an opportunity to influence enterprise strategy, advance Technology Business Management practices, and drive continuous improvement within a financial services and technology environment.

Establish, lead, and continuously evolve the enterprise IT Financial Management (ITFM) capability, including its governance model, frameworks, standards, taxonomy, processes, and strategic roadmap. Build and lead an enterprise-wide ITFM steward community, promoting alignment across a federated organization and supporting the adoption and maturity of consistent financial management practices. Serve as a strategic partner to Technology, Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), business leaders, and other stakeholders to improve budgeting, forecasting, cost management, reporting, and investment decisions. Translate complex technology and financial information into actionable insights that clarify technology consumption, spending patterns, cost trends, financial risks, and opportunities for optimization. Advance ITFM maturity by applying relevant Technology Business Management (TBM) frameworks, methodologies, and industry practices while tailoring approaches to organizational needs. Influence senior stakeholders across organizational boundaries, build trust among teams with competing priorities, and drive alignment and adoption without relying on direct authority. Champion continuous improvement in ITFM-related processes, governance, reporting, transparency, and stakeholder experience. Partner with teams responsible for the technology platforms and processes that support ITFM to strengthen operational effectiveness and the quality of financial insights. Travel regularly to the corporate headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa. Requirements: At least 10 years of experience in IT Financial Management, IT Business Management, Technology Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis supporting IT, Technology Strategy, or a related field. Equivalent experience may include professional, military, or educational experience. Demonstrated success leading enterprise capabilities, governance frameworks, strategic programs, steward networks, or complex initiatives within a highly matrixed organization. Strong knowledge of IT Financial Management, Technology Business Management, technology cost management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning practices. Proven ability to bridge Technology and Finance, communicate effectively across both functions, and establish credibility with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders. Ability to navigate organizational complexity, ambiguity, and competing priorities while influencing senior stakeholders and driving change without direct authority. Strong strategic thinking, analytical reasoning, problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and relationship-management skills. Experience leading organizational change and identifying opportunities to improve processes, governance, transparency, and operational effectiveness. Direct experience establishing, leading, or significantly contributing to an ITFM or TBM capability is highly desirable. Familiarity with TBM frameworks, taxonomies, methodologies, and industry practices within a large organization is an advantage. Experience in a large, federated, or distributed technology organization with multiple business units and stakeholder groups is preferred. Experience in a global organization or consulting on TBM, ITFM, or finance transformation initiatives is an additional advantage. Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future immigration sponsorship. Applicants requiring sponsorship, including F-1 OPT/CPT, H-1B, TN, L-1, or J-1 authorization, are not being considered. Candidates should be prepared for regular travel to Des Moines, Iowa. Work arrangements may be in-office, hybrid, or remote, subject to location and organizational requirements. Remote work is available only to individuals residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, Iowa; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Raleigh, North Carolina. Benefits: Target base salary: $150,000–$185,000 per year, depending on factors such as location, experience, education, credentials, and skills. Bonus opportunity: Eligible non-sales employees may participate in a bonus program. Pension eligibility: The position is eligible for a pension. Work arrangement flexibility: In-office, hybrid, and qualifying remote arrangements are available, subject to business needs and location eligibility.
