🎯 About the Role

We’re looking for a European Service Manager to join our Service Operations team.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading and developing AVK’s European service operations, ensuring the successful delivery of service contracts across multiple countries while driving customer satisfaction, operational excellence and commercial performance. You’ll work closely with customers, engineers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to build a scalable, high-performing service function that supports our ambitious growth plans.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of AVK’s European service business. In the early stages, you’ll play a pivotal role in strengthening our capabilities across the region, creating robust processes, developing partnerships and ensuring we can deliver the full range of services our customers require.

You’ll join a team at the heart of AVK’s customer experience, responsible for keeping critical power infrastructure operating reliably and efficiently. This role would suit someone who enjoys building and improving service operations, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is equally comfortable discussing technical challenges with engineers as they are building relationships with important customers.

This role involves significant travel across Europe, with occasional travel to the UK.

🌍 About Us

AVK is the largest and fastest-growing energy solutions company in the data centre industry. We power tomorrow’s data. Leading with an innovative approach, we are the ones who provide the power so that data centres run, uninterrupted. Our solutions are vast and comprehensive, giving data centre operators an end-to-end approach.

We’re leading the charge in the industry. We launched the first operational microgrid in Europe, we have a offering unique to anyone else’s, we’ve just been named among Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies 2026, and we’ve just announced over $1 billion in investment with serious focus on adding ambitious talent to our already capable and expert team.

That’s where you come in. Ready to join us?

Requirements

Service Delivery & Operations

  • Lead all field-based service activity across Europe, ensuring service contracts are delivered safely, efficiently, profitably and in line with customer expectations.

  • Manage scheduling, resource planning, call-out coverage and parts availability to ensure seamless service delivery and SLA compliance.

  • Drive first-time fix performance by ensuring remedial works are effectively planned and supported.

  • Develop and improve service processes, standards and operational controls to support a scalable European service operation.

  • Oversee financial administration, invoicing and commercial performance across all European service works.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with customers, ensuring an exceptional customer experience at every stage.

  • Partner with Account Managers and customers to identify service improvements, operational efficiencies and opportunities for growth.

  • Collaborate with Technical Services, Account Management and operational teams to ensure successful delivery of customer commitments.

  • Proactively resolve customer concerns and drive continuous improvement through feedback and performance reviews.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach and develop the European service team, setting clear expectations and driving high performance.

  • Select, onboard and manage subcontractors and delivery partners across multiple territories.

  • Ensure engineers are engaged, informed and equipped to deliver outstanding service to customers.

  • Promote a "one team" culture across Service, Technical Services and commercial teams.

✅ Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience managing field service operations within a technical environment such as power generation, critical power, electrical, mechanical or HVAC services.

  • Demonstrable people management experience, including leading teams and managing subcontractors or third-party delivery partners.

  • Strong commercial awareness, including responsibility for margins, costs, invoicing and service profitability.

  • Excellent customer-facing and stakeholder management skills with a proactive, relationship-led approach.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build credibility with both customers and engineers.

  • Fluent English language skills and a minimum conversational German language skills.

  • Willingness to travel extensively across Europe.

Desirable

  • Experience building or significantly developing a service operation across multiple countries.

  • Experience managing call-out or out-of-hours service provision.

  • Knowledge of European, Dutch or German employment practices, subcontractor management and health & safety requirements.

  • Management, leadership or health & safety qualifications.

  • Experience using ERP, service management or field service software.

What Will Make You Successful

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and building processes rather than inheriting established structures.

  • Hands-on and practical, with the ability to balance operational delivery and strategic improvement.

  • Credible with customers, engineers and business leaders alike.

  • Passionate about customer experience, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Studies show some candidates only apply when they meet all criteria - we don’t expect that. If this role interests you and you meet many (not all) of the requirements, we’d love to hear from you.
