Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a OS Senior Associate - CPG based in India. This is a senior accounting role supporting a portfolio of US-based consumer packaged goods (CPG) businesses in a fully remote environment. You will independently own complex accounting areas and play a direct role in delivering accurate, timely month-end closes. The position requires strong CPG accounting expertise, particularly across trade spend, inventory, deductions, landed costs, and COGS. You will work closely with US-based Client Leads and Team Leads, exercising sound accounting judgment while managing multiple client engagements. The role combines hands-on accounting execution with opportunities to review associate work, improve processes, and share CPG best practices. Success requires professionalism, proactive communication, reliability across time zones, and the ability to operate autonomously in a client-focused environment.

Own complex CPG accounting areas from start to finish, including trade promotion accruals, deductions reconciliation, promotional liabilities, inventory, and COGS. Perform inventory accounting across different fulfillment models, including landed cost calculations, 3PL reconciliations, obsolescence reserves, and periodic inventory counts. Apply appropriate COGS structures and gross-to-net revenue accounting across retail, direct-to-consumer, Amazon, and distributor channels. Manage co-packer, contract manufacturer, and supplier accruals with accurate supporting documentation. Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations for complex balance sheet and income statement accounts. Manage assigned month-end close activities end-to-end according to client calendars and established quality standards. Identify and resolve accounting issues proactively, escalating complex or high-risk matters with clear context when needed. Maintain organized, accurate supporting documentation and communicate close status, open items, and timing risks ahead of deadlines. Review Associate-level work and provide constructive feedback that strengthens accounting quality and capability. Recommend improvements to templates, documentation, and close workflows, while sharing CPG-specific knowledge and best practices with the wider team. Exercise independent accounting judgment within established US GAAP policies and documented procedures, without changing accounting policy or communicating directly with clients unless specifically directed. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field is required; Chartered Accountant qualification or active pursuit is strongly preferred. 3–6 years of professional accounting experience with hands-on ownership of complex accounting areas, including experience with US-based clients or within a US GAAP environment. Demonstrated CPG accounting experience is essential, with practical knowledge of trade promotion accounting, inventory reconciliation, deductions, and multi-channel COGS. Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and practical experience applying it to journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and month-end close activities. Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel; experience with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Cin7, or similar accounting platforms is a strong advantage. Experience in outsourced accounting, shared services, or BPO environments supporting US-based clients is highly preferred. Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate professionally with US-based colleagues and clients when required. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple client workstreams simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and timeliness. Demonstrated independence, accountability, responsiveness, and proactive communication when working across significant time-zone differences. Strong coachability and openness to feedback, with the ability to quickly incorporate guidance and continuously improve work quality. Benefits: Competitive compensation aligned with the India market and the seniority and specialization of the role. Competitive health and wellness plan. Paid time off and paid holidays. Fully remote work from India supporting international client engagements. Company-provided technology equipment. $250 technology stipend to support a productive home-office setup. Opportunity to work closely with US-based accounting and finance professionals and gain exposure to diverse CPG businesses. Opportunities to strengthen expertise in US GAAP, CPG accounting, and complex month-end close processes. Professional development through feedback, knowledge sharing, process improvement, and collaboration with a distributed team.
