Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Print Production Manager based in the United States. This remote role leads the end-to-end production of K–12 print materials, from finalized digital content through final printer release. You’ll manage multiple concurrent programs, production schedules, vendors, quality processes, and release milestones. The role sits at the intersection of publishing operations, project management, technology, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll work closely with Content, Editorial, Product, Supply Chain, Customer Success, Operations, printers, and external partners. Beyond day-to-day execution, you’ll identify ways to automate workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve production quality. You’ll have an opportunity to modernize print operations through technology, AI, and scalable process improvements. Success means delivering accurate, high-quality print products on time while continuously making the production system more efficient.
Own multiple print production programs from digital content lock through final printer release, ensuring schedules, milestones, dependencies, and release plans remain on track. Coordinate internal teams, external vendors, printers, and supply chain partners to deliver student editions, teacher editions, translated materials, samples, and other print packages accurately and on schedule. Maintain production schedules, dashboards, version control, approvals, and release-readiness documentation across concurrent projects. Execute established print production, quality assurance, errata, and document-release processes consistently and identify production risks before they affect delivery. Manage cover production from initial request through final approval and coordinate print-file corrections and issue resolution through established workflows. Manage NIMAC submissions and ensure applicable accessibility and compliance requirements are met. Partner with Product and Engineering teams to improve production tools, workflows, reporting, and operational visibility. Identify opportunities to automate repetitive production activities and leverage AI for quality assurance, metadata validation, document comparison, and other production workflows. Recommend scalable operational improvements that reduce manual work, increase quality, accelerate delivery, and improve visibility across the print production lifecycle. Requirements 3–5+ years of experience in print production, publishing operations, production project management, or a closely related field. Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple complex publishing or production projects simultaneously, managing competing priorities and deadlines. Strong knowledge of print production, prepress, quality assurance, version control, release processes, and vendor management. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners in fast-moving operational environments. Excellent project management, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail. Experience with project management and workflow platforms such as Jira, Airtable, Smartsheet, Workfront, or similar tools. Experience improving operational processes through automation, technology, or workflow redesign. Ability to identify production risks, establish clear ownership, and drive issues through resolution. Familiarity with K–12 educational publishing is highly desirable. Experience with accessibility requirements or NIMAC submissions is a strong advantage. Experience with Adobe Acrobat, InDesign workflows, print preflight tools, or similar publishing technologies is beneficial. Familiarity with AI tools, workflow automation, Google Apps Script, Python, APIs, or related technologies is a plus. A systems-oriented mindset and interest in continuously improving how production work is planned, executed, measured, and scaled. Benefits Competitive annual salary of $85,000–$130,000 , depending on geographic location, experience, seniority, and demonstrated capabilities. Meaningful equity participation. Medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance options, including PPO, HMO, and HSA plans. 401(k) retirement plan. One Medical membership in participating locations. Flexible vacation policy, subject to internal approval, with employees averaging approximately four weeks off per year. 10 paid sick days per year, prorated based on start date. Paid holidays and paid bereavement leave. Paid family leave following birth or adoption, including at least 16 weeks for birthing parents and 10 weeks for caretaker parents, designed to supplement applicable state benefits. Commuter and flexible spending account (FSA) plans. Fully remote work arrangement within the United States. Opportunity to work at the intersection of education, publishing, operations, automation, and emerging AI-enabled workflows.
